THE FOUR FIRST YEARS LAUGHED at each other's childish behaviour. James face became suddenly though and he turned to face Genevieve.

"What I want to know is why it took Gen so long to get sorted." He pointed, Sirius agreeing. Remus shrugging, nodding.

Genevieve didn't understand what the boy meant. "Wha' d'yer mean? I didnae take tha' lon'." She argued.

James raised his eyebrows in surprise. "Not that long? It took six minutes." He exclaimed.

"You're a hat stall." Sirius finished.

"Wha's a hat stall?" She asked confused. "Is it bad?"

Remus shook his head. "No, it's not bad. It's when someone take five or more minutes to get sorted by the hat into a house." Genevieve looked down, slightly embarrassed.

"I didnae ken it took so lon'." She muttered before regaining herself. "But I weren't the only one, were I. Tha' other lad took ages gettin' sorted. Wha' were his name?" She thought aloud.

"Pettigrew. Peter, I think." Sirius replied. Genevieve snapped her fingers, thanking him.

"Okay. I feel better abou' tha' now." She laughed shortly.

"Did you hear the rumours about that Ebeneer girl?" James changed the subject to their fellow first year, Thalia. Genevieve and Remus nodded.

"What rumours?" Sirius asked, out of the loop.

Genevieve shook her head, looking over James shoulder to the lonely girl at the Slytherin table. "Remus an' I hear' people sayin' she was a demon, like a possessed by the devil himself." Remus nodded.

"Another one was that she killed her own parents when she was little." He muttered quietly.

Sirius' eyebrows furrowed in concentration. "I call hippogriff dung." He scoffed. "She probably started the rumours herself...right?" He added, nervously.

Genevieve shrugged. "All I ken is, I wouldnae wanna be her. Stuff like tha' follows yer." She replied.

The four of them hadn't realised that the sorting had finished until they heard the voice of an elderly man, who introduced himself to the first years as the Headmaster, Professor Dumbledore. But rather than greet the students with a speech, he invited them to eat and enjoy the feast before them.

"Wha' feast?" Genevieve asked quickly before jumping when it suddenly appeared in front of them. "Jesus." She muttered, Sirius laughing beside her towards the reaction.

Her eyes fell to the food and widened. Before her was a variety of dishes all over the tables. Steak Pies, Potatoes, Meat and Gravy. She was in awe of the magical school already. She had to take a moment to decide what she wanted before asking James to pass her a steak and kidney pie. She dropped it onto her plate and she added potatoes. She stared at the dish for a few moments before looking up to Remus and nodding to it.
