Chapter 45: Can I Trust You

Luigi woke up as the sun rested on his eyes. He looked around his somewhat messy room before standing up. He walked to his phone and received a message from Toadsworth. "What could this be all about?" He opened it and with awe, he dashed to his closet to get ready. "I can't believe it."

Luigi rushed through the Hospital doors and up the elevator to a small room just out of sight from the main view. He met Bowser and Peach who were both standing there having small talk peaking through the window on the door occasionally. Luigi wanted to peak too, but he got a bit too distracted when he saw Peach and Bowser together. Bowser glanced at Luigi's face and instantly moved a good distance away from Peach. Luigi peaked through the window and saw Mario sitting up. "Can I talk to him?" Peach nodded, but sighed," He hasn't spoken since he was woken up, but you can give it a shot". Luigi took a deep breath and slowly opened the door walking into the room full of despair.

The room was silent, silent enough for you to hear Mario's soft breathing. "Hey, Mario." Mario was staring out the window with his hands placed gently on his lap. "How are you feeling?" Silence followed causing Luigi to lose all hope into communicating with his brother.  He turned around pushing his hair away from his eyes letting out a deep sigh. "I can't feel my legs." Luigi looked back raising his brow in confusion. "I can't feel them, I can't move them, can't even wiggle my toes, isn't that just pathetic." Luigi stood close to the door and leaned by a nearby wall to listen to his brother's rantings. "In hindsight, part of me feels like I deserve it, but tell me, what are your thoughts." Luigi stood for a moment collecting his thoughts, clenching his fist, and taking a couple of deep breaths. "You deserved it, It's bad that you lost your legs, but..." Luigi walked up to Mario with a bitter aura around him. Luigi chuckled a bit before going back to a straight face. "I think it's good, now I can look down at you while you rot away in your little chair beneath me." Mario looked at Luigi disgusted by his words. "You bastard." All Luigi could do is laugh," I find this as a nice victory for me, your tormenting days are over." Mario growled," Get out." Luigi turned around and walked out feeling neutral. He finally got that off his chest but wasn't sure if it was really the right thing to do. Peach stood outside the room looking at her phone. "Where did Bowser go?", He asked standing a good distance away. "He went to the bathroom, um Luigi." "Yes?" "Do you have a minute, I'd like to speak with you privately.", Peach said. Luigi didn't like the idea but agreed to go with her.

They both entered her office and sat by a table off to her desk. "Is there something wrong?", Luigi asked while she poured tea into two cups. "Let's just cut to the chase shall we.", She said rolling her sleeves up while taking a deep breath. Luigi gave her a dumbfounded look wondering what's going on. "It's obvious when I'm around Bowser and you show up, you're upset." "U-Upset, I don't know what you-." "Don't play dumb, Mario does it and it never works." Luigi gulped and slouched back in his chair. "It's obvious I overstepped some boundaries, And I want to apologize for that, I hope you can forgive me." Luigi sighed, he knew she figured out that Bowser and he were seeing each other. "I forgive you, I know you didn't mean any harm". She smiled," Good, glad we got that settled, hopefully, we can start fresh after today." He nodded sipping his tea while enjoying casual talk with each other.

Luigi decided to go to Bowser's office to check on him grabbing a few snacks on his way for them to enjoy. He waltzes in seeing him sitting at his desk working quietly. He looked up at him and smiled a bit before returning to his work. "H-here I got some snacks for you." "Thank you, I needed a tiny boost." After nibbling on his snacks he looked back up to Luigi. "So, um did you think about what I said yesterday?" Luigi nervously looked down at his feet twiddling his thumbs. "I'll give you an answer by the end of the day." Bowser was happy that he was going to know if Luigi was going to Marry him or not, but the anticipation was making his stomach churn. Luigi stood up and walked out without a word.

"Daisy I need to tell you something." Luigi found his way into her office wondering what kind of advice she could give him. "Follow your heart~.", She said. Luigi gave here a very unimpressed gaze while she tried her best to hold in a chuckle but failed. "Just kidding, just kidding, But seriously, On one hand, he seems to care about you a lot to the point that he was lost without you, but on the other hand he used you in the beginning and still ended up kissing peach. Luigi felt sick to his stomach not sure what to do. "I have an idea." She ran over to hold both of Luigi's hands. "Ask him why you should marry him, if he gives you a bad reason, don't." Luigi liked the Idea, it would give him a better understanding of what's going on in Bowser's mind. "I think that might just work."

Bowser packed his things to go home wondering if he should ask Luigi to come with him. He let out a deep sight while walking out his office towards the elevator. (I guess I'll ask him another time) he thought to himself. Before the elevator doors could close a foot wedged in between to keep them open. Bowser's eyes lit up as he saw Luigi get on. Before he could mutter a word he spoke. "Why should I marry you?" Bowser was surprised by the question but smiled. "Why...well, I'll make sure there is nothing but trust between us, I won't hold any more secrets. I want you to be the happiest man alive until our very last breath. My kingdom will no longer be mine, but ours. I-I will be with you no matter where you go. "Luigi... please marry me." Before Luigi could say anything a loud squeal echoed through the elevator. They bother looked towards the back and saw Toadette jumping for joy with her eyes glittering with tears. "Haha I guess I can't say No can I.", Luigi said with a smirk.
They both gave each other a kiss holding each other embracing the new bond formed between them.
