(Since my last story was a little bleh- here's something soft. This is based off a chapter from Be Yourself however it is not canon to the story.)

James nervously pulled up into the driveway. His hands were shaking near the steering wheel. Adam held his shoulder and gave him a weak smile. Both of them knew how James' dad felt about demons and LGBT+ people. But they still had to try. James' mom had planned a nice lunch for all of them to help smooth things over.

James and Adam got out of the car and walked over to the door. "C-can you knock for us Adam?" James asked. Adam nodded and gently knocked on the door.

The door slowly opened as James' mom walked out. She exchanged hugs with the couple and welcomed them inside. Once they walked in, James eyes wondered to his father's. James' dad looked away from the two and mumbled something under his breath.

"Everyone sit down at the table. Lunch will be ready in five minutes." James' mom said.

The room silent, tension rising from all sides. Adam feeling uncomfortable,  tried to break the silence. "So, how your day been going Mr. Rallison?" he asked.

"It was going fine until now." he replied.

James let out a soft sigh as he looked down. "I know you're disappointed in me, but can't you let it go for a bit?"

"No I can't James! I didn't even know why I have to be here."

"Because I'm your son! I'm your son and you should support my decisions-"

"You are not my son!" Mr. Rallison yelled, slamming his fist on the table. Adam jumped at the sound. He then looked at James, who had tears in the corners of his eyes. Seeing James so upset lit a flame in him. Adam got up and looked at James' dad right in the eye.

"You're making a big mistake." Adam growled.

"Excuse me?" Mr. Rallison snapped. James looked up at Adam in shock.

"You heard me. James is kindness, sweetest, most caring, compassionate, funny, and loving person I know. He was terrified to come here to see you because of what you would think and yet he still came. He came here because he loves you and wants to make things right and all you've been doing was be stubborn! You're not gonna even give him credit for coming out here to see you? So if you won't give James the love and support he needs then I will!"

Another wave of silence fell on the room. Adam pushed in his chair and looked over at James. James gave a small smile. Even though he didn't say anything, Adam knew he was saying thank you. "Come on Jameson, let's go." Adam said. James got out of his chair and walked behind Adam.

"Wait!" Mr. Rallison demanded, "You really did all of that James?"

"Yeah Dad. I miss you and I hate that I upset you." James said.

Mr. Rallison got up and pulled James into a strong hug. "I missed you too. I'm so sorry son." he whispered. James froze as his dad embraced him. He slowly hugged him back with tears streaming down his cheeks.

James' mom walked in and put her hand on Adam's shoulder. "Good work Adam, this was a great idea." she whispered.

"Yeah, I knew it would work out in the end." Adam whispered back.

"Would you help me bring dinner out son?"

Adam turned around. He wagged his tail in excitement. "S-son?" James' mom laughed and nodded. Adam happily walked behind her to help her out.
