Is the challenge open to everyone?
Yes. All non U.S. residents can participate, as long as you're following Wattpad's rule of being age 13 or older.
When does the challenge end?
The end date is September 22, 2020.
Will more books and authors be added to the challenge?
Yes. As the summer progresses, you can expect changes and additions in the lineup of participating authors and books.
How do I keep track of all the books I've read?
One suggestion is to add the books you're reading or completed reading to a reading list on your profile.
How do I keep track of the chapters I read?
Keep track of the chapters you read during the week by commenting on each chapter of the a participating book with a plot related comment and adding the #WP2020 hashtag to your comment. Remember: Read and comment on at least 3 chapters of a participating book before moving on to another book.
What if I previously read one or some of the books in the challenge?
If you read a book in the challenge BEFORE June 2020 and you want those chapters to count toward your total, you will have to go back and leave a short comment about what happens in that chapter along with the #WP2020 hashtag for those chapters to count as an entry.
If you RECENTLY read and COMPLETED a book in the challenge and it's recent enough that the author would still see or remember your comments, just add the #WP2020 hashtag to those chapters.
If you started reading a book a little before the announcement of the challenge and/or are CONTINUING or CURRENTLY reading, start adding the #WP2020 hashtag and comment to the chapter you are currently reading and every consecutive chapter as you continue. Since your previous comments are fairly new.
What does "a plot related comment" mean?
Your comment must mention or react to something that occurs in the plot of that chapter to show that you've read that chapter.
How do I report the chapters I read?
Leave a comment in the "Tallies and Weekly Winners" chapter of this book. In your comment, add the title of the book you've read along with the number of chapters you've read.
Example: Emma That is Dead - 10 or I read 10 chapters of The Death of Me.
When do I report in?
Leave your comments detailing the amount you've read every week in the "Tallies and Weekly Winners" chapter of this book.
Please do this every Saturday by 11:59pm PST to officially enter the weekly challenge!
How will the hosts keep track of the chapters/stories read?
After you report in at the end of every week, we'll keep a tally of the amount of chapters you've read. At the end of the 2020 Summer Reading Challenge on September 22nd, we will add together all the weekly chapters read to select the grand winner and runners up.
Do you check the participating books to count the comments?
Yes. We ask all participating authors to keep track of the comments containing the #WP2020 hashtag.
What reward do I get for reporting weekly?
Every week, the top 3 readers who've read the most in the week will receive a celebratory shout-out from each host on their profile and in this book.
When will weekly winners be announced?
After the weekly reports cutoff time every Saturday, expect an announcement of the top readers sometime the following week!
