I stared at the young woman in front of me. Her tight shirt clinging to her bouncy breasts with every high pitched word that left her plump lips.
"One more time." I smiled but deep down inside I wanted to strangle her.
"A venti with half-whole milk and half 1%, extra hot, split quad shots, no foam latte, with whip, 2 packets of splenda, 1 sugar in the raw, a touch of vanilla syrup and 3 short sprinkles of cinnamon." She rolled her eyes after pretty much saying her order in one breath.
It was astonishing that she could speak that fast. Though, my mind didn't think so.
"Okay, this isn't Starbucks. We don't have Venti. Just large."
Kill me. Now. Please.
"Whatever."
I huffed silently under my breath turning to the counter behind me. The line was almost to the door and I was the only one working right now. This lady was going to drown me in orders.
Part of me wanted to make it suck so she never came back here again with that type of demand. But I sucked it up and made her the coffee to my fullest extent.
Five excruciatingly long minutes later, I handed it to her. Only to have her stand in line while she tasted it.
Oh my lord. Even people in line were groaning and complaining.
"Holy fuck that's good." She smiled, placing a hundred dollar bill in the top jar.
Fucking hell.
Come back anytime, ma'am.
"Next please." I sighed, not even able to acknowledge the complicated order lady.
"Large hot Coffee black." A man demanded his hands on the counter. "And one of those chocolate chip muffins."
"You're amazing." My shoulders slumped with a shake of my head.
Thank god.
He just laughed, rolling up his sleeves to expose his muscular forearms.
I handed him his coffee and he was on his way after paying. Thankfully the rest of the line had no complicated orders. Just simple coffees I could make with my eyes closed.
It wasn't until a familiar face approached the counter that my stomach turned to knots.
"Hey Addison, what can I get for you?" Fucking hell, What's jog girl doing here?
"Just a water."
I grabbed the water from the fridge and eyed her carefully. She was in workout gear but barely broken a sweat. And she was alone.
I handed her the water and she gave me the money with a large sigh.
"So you and Maddox?" She huffed looking around the coffee shop as if seeing if he were here.
I eyed the dwindling line behind her. "I don't really have time to talk. Kind of working right now."
She rolled her big brown orbs. "Just know, he never stays with one girl. One minute he's saying adorable shit to get in your pants and then the next he's leaving you for his next play thing."
My eyes narrowed but the rest of my body stayed neutral.
"And the point of telling me is?"
"Just watch your back. Don't get hurt like the rest of us did." She simply shrugged before taking off and not saying another word.
My lips remained pursed, replaying Addisons words for the remainder of work. I shouldn't let her get under my skin. Normally, it's difficult for people to weasel their opinions in my own mind.
