Ellie POV
2 Months later
I sat in the crowd, waiting to hear his name. the anticipation cursing through my veins. I am so fucking proud of Max for graduating. For putting his mind and heart into schooling and actually finishing with a degree.
His mother sat next to me. We didn't say a word to each other. I gave a simple, Hello and that was it. His father, James and my father sat side by side. Talking about Max and Basketball.
It was bitter sweet. Our two families joining for Max's big day. Even if the woman of the family secretly hated one another.
Names weren't being called yet but it was coming close.
My phone vibrated and the area code that flashed on my screen made time stand still. I excused myself quickly, earning a concerning look from my father.
"Hello?" I practically had to yell over the loud murmurs of the crowd.
"Ellie Taylor? It's Kace Cohen."
Oh my god.
"Mr. Cohen, I'm so glad to hear from you." I tried to speak proper and act like I wasn't about to fan girl, right here, right now.
"My son has been talking about you non stop for two months now, so I figured it's time to meet." His voice was so deep and even if his words were serious, he sounded playful.
"That would be amazing." I looked up to the stage to see the first person being called for their diploma.
My heart sank. I couldn't miss Maddox graduating.
"Great. How about I fly you out to California this weekend? I'll text you the details."
"Yes! Yes. Okay. Thanks so much, Mr. Cohen."
"No problem, Ellie. We'll be in touch." He hung up.
My heart was still racing as I ran to my seat, not even trying to hide my excitement. It showed on my face, in my eyes. Fuck I even smiled at Camilla.
Then I heard his name being called.
"Maddox Bouchard."
I saw him hold his head high, looking to the crowd where the four of us stood, clapping for him. My father did a few "wooopwoops" only making James laugh and shake his head. His mother poshly clapped her hands like the wanna be queen she is. I could hear his friends in the rows ahead of us cheering him on loudly.
His smile brightened taking it all in. And once that diploma was in his hand, I swear I saw a small tear escape his left eye, only to be wiped away quickly.

"Max!" I yelled over the crowds.
Girls were huddled around him, like usual, trying to get his attention. But when he heard my voice, he looked up. Gleaming with so much lust, I just about fell to my knees in my stride.
I jumped into his arms, wrapping my legs around his torso. He quickly caught his balance and me with his hands gripping my ass. I pressed my lips to his before he could say a word.
"I am so fucking proud of you." I murmured to him, only breaking our make out for a moment.

"To Max!" Tyler cheered, raising a glass. We all gathered around the table, eating and drinking post party. Most of us were wasted beyond belief. Half slurring words. I decided to stay semi-sober, only having a two drinks.
Too much was running through my mind. I hadn't had time to think about Kace Cohen calling me. Telling me to come to California.
