The backstory. Here is where the real fun tips will come in handy.
Ⅰ ▬ A well-rounded background. As a personality, the background should be very well-rounded and feel complete. Don't add a lot of sadness in the backstory. Yes, I do understand that people can go through a lot of struggles in their life. You can do this but it has to be done in a proper way. You don't want an over-dramatic sad background. Yes it can have tragic this but you want to keep it in balance
Ⅱ ▬ Perfect. No one is perfect so no background should be perfect. No backstory should come without flaw. Having your characters struggle through something will help give your character growth. The backstory will help the reader understand why the character does a thing. Why they chose A instead of B
Ⅲ ▬ How to achieve a good balance background. There should be setbacks and success in their life. In most stories, the character should go through some setbacks in their life. Not everything should be able to go their way. There also should be some success. Where their hard work pays off and they achieve something they worked hard for. Although even if you work hard for something it may not always work in the end.
Loss. Having some loss in their backstory is perfectly fine. I have not met someone who has not experienced some form of loss in their life. That is life. You will go through a loss because people don't live forever. Life isn't endless. The drip finally stops.
With these tips, you should make a well-balanced character with a great personality, face claim, and balance backstory.
