"AREYOU SURE YOU WANT TO APPLY AS AN ECONOMICS MAJOR, GAEUN-AH? in my opinion, i feel like you're stronger in the fine arts department. or maybe you could consider journalism since you like writing right?"
despite the desperate protest gaeun's counselor made last minute, the senior, who sat across from her with hands folded, didn't hesitate to shake her head.
"i think i'll stick to economics, mrs. han," she politely refused, giving a small smile to reassure her.
gaeun knew just as well that her counselor would bring up a discussion like this right before college applications started and already planned to reject any other route than the one she decided on from when she was in her freshman year. but it wasn't because gaeun was insanely passionate with economics and had a future dream of working in the stocks department. it was mostly because this route was simple and straightforward for her to follow. she wouldn't have to spend endless amounts of time researching what sort of extracurriculars to take, what her gpa needed to be, or which universities offered the best program. the checklist was already laid out for her and all gaeun needed to do was tick them off until graduation.
