Mowgli ran off into a jungle and hide behind a rock. Someone came by humming a tune. It was Baloo - a big, carefree bear, who believed in just the bare necessities of life. He and Mowgli liked each other immediately.

Baloo taught Mowgli how to get tasty food like ants and bananas and coconuts without working too hard. The duo sang together merrily as they marched through the jungle plucking a fruit here or cracking a nut there.

Baloo then jumped into the water and Mowgli sat on his tummy.

" you're gonna make one swell bear, " said Baloo.
Mowgli had to agree that Baloo's life sure was a lot of fun and they enjoyed it. Suddenly, Mowgli's peaceful ride came to an end, when he rudely snatched right off Baloo's stomach by some monkeys." We want to take you to our leader," they cried.
