29 - trouble

I woke up in Z's arms, the light shining on my face.

"Morning," she said. I looked up at her.

"Morning," I responded and rested my head on her chest. She kissed my forehead and sighed.

"Don't get comfy I'm getting up now,"

"Noooo, stay with me,"

"I need to pee,"

"I don't care, you had the whole night to pee,"I said as I put my arms around her so she couldn't get up.

"You should know I definitely didn't have the whole night to pee," she winked and I rolled my eyes.

"I still don't care," I said and she sighed and tilted my head up so I was looking at her. She kissed me softly but quickly deepened the kiss.

I cupped her face and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.

She pushed me back a bit and quickly jumped out of bed.

"Haha, I got out," she teased and I groaned.

"No fair, you're such a tease," I complained and Daya laughed.

"You just can't resist me," she said as she left the room. I rolled my eyes but followed her into the kitchen.

Her mum and brother were in the kitchen eating when we came out.

"Hey, morning," I said as I walked in.

"Hey, you sleep alright?" Her mum asked

"Yeah, fine," I responded. Z looked at me mischievously but I ignored her, making her chuckle quietly.

Just then there was a knock at the door.

"I'll get it," Z said and I nodded. She left the room and I sat down with her mum  and brother to eat my breakfast.

"So, things go ok last night?" She asked

"Yep all good," I responded and Daya's mum smirked knowingly but I pretended not to notice.

"What happened last night?" Z's brother asked.

"Oh nothing it's ok," I replied and all of a sudden a crying Z burst into the kitchen and stormed into our room.

I looked up from my food and rushed to our room. Daya had locked the door so I knocked gently.

"Z? It's me, what happened?" There was silence  on the other side of the door before I heard the door unlock but she didn't open it.

I pushed it open. She was standing behind the door after unlocking it. I closed it behind us and hugged her.

"You ok?" I asked worriedly.

"No,"

"Why not, who was at the door?"

She took a deep breath before saying,

"My ex,"

"Ok, why?"

"He wants to get back together because he saw the news about you and me and apparently realised he wasn't over me,"

"Oh, ok," I said as jealousy bubbled inside me and I clenched my jaw.

"I don't want him back though," she sobbed.

At this point I was biting back tears of anger and rage. I didn't know if I wanted the answer but I asked anyway,

"Why not?"

"He... he cheated on me,"

I held her tighter and kissed her forehead. I could tell there was something she wasn't saying but I didn't pry and just held her for a while.

"Is there something you're not saying?" I asked and she sniffled.

"No," she said but I heard the uncertainty in her voice, the wobble of her lip.

"What is it?"

"Nothing," she said her voice getting louder and slightly defensive.

"Shh, it's fine, it's me," I soothed, rubbing her back as she buried herself deeper into my hug.

"He hurt me,"

"He what?!" I cried and stepped back. She looked down in shame.

"Did you tell anyone?"

"No I just said he cheated on me,"

Anger swelled inside me. Who the fuck could hurt that angel?

In the moment of silence I heard voices at the front door. He hadn't left yet. I stormed out the room and straight towards where he was trying to get in.

Daya's mum and brother keeping him outside.

"Get out," I said looking him straight in the eye.

"What? I thought you were in Italy!" He said in shock.

"Well surprise now go away and don't come back," I spoke and slammed the door in his face and walked back to Z who had stayed in her room, leaving both her brother and mum standing at the front door in shock.

I got back to the room to find Daya crying in bed.

"It's ok, he's gone," I said as I slid under the covers next to her. She turned around to face me and buried her head in my chest as I cradled her in my arms.

"And I swear to god if he lays so much as a finger on you I will snap him in half," I threaten. She starts crying into my shirt and I immediately soften, kissing her forehead in reassurance and pulling her closer.
