CAROLINE'S POINT OF VIEW

I sat on my prayer mat making dua to Allah that He makes things easy for me, that I understand Islam and practice it the way He wants me to.

I asked him for the strength to live in this society and to help the people around me respect my decision. My eyes got filled with water. It was difficult as everywhere I went people made fun of me, even the people I loved and had never imagined that they will do this to me.

I asked Allah that I find so much pleasure in his remembrance that all these things stop affecting me. I cried before him until I felt better.

I folded my prayer mat and kept it on the chair beside me.

I had been going to Miss Amna since two weeks now. I had learned the namaz really fast that I was shocked about it me. Miss Amna told me that Allah helps and makes this book easy for those who sincerely want to learn it.

One day while I was sitting with her she asked me

"Are you married?"

"No" I replied shocked at her sudden change of subject. Just before this question she was telling me about the Sunnah that we should sit and drink water always.

"You know marriage is also a Sunnah of prophet (s.a.w)."

"Tell me more about it." I demanded.

Then she told me all the rulings about marriage. She told me that as soon as I find it convenient, I should get married as it will help me through this change. And living with a Muslim will help me adopt the religion properly.

I understood what she was trying to say. I thought she was right, but I wanted to marry someone who is practicing, so that I learn from him and become a good Muslim myself.

Miss Amna had told me that Islam is not something you just believe in, it's a pathway that provides guidelines for everything in life. I wanted to live according to that path.

I had to go today to Umar's engagement. I had bought some clothes that were loose and long. I had bought some hijabs as well. I got dressed up and left for the hall.

I sat for a while before I saw Umar I went to him and gave him the gift that I had got on my way.

He told me that he wanted me to meet someone. He called someone sitting on the chair across us. I thought that I had seen him somewhere. I had liked him that day as well. He was really shy and he spoke really softly. After meeting him I told Umar that will have to leave now. I went home and offered namaz. I asked Allah that I find a life partner who understands me. I asked Allah that he does not care about my past.

I had decided that I would resign from my job soon. I wanted to do a job of writing only. I did not want to do any shooting now. I had applied for a job and also had been accepted.

After praying I went to sleep I had to submit my resignation letter tomorrow.

I went into my boss's office and submitted my resignation. I came out and thought of telling Umar about it.

I called him into my office and told him about my resignation.

"As soon as I leave you will be assigned to someone else."

"I hope you find a job according to your requirements."

"Thank you." I said.

He hesitated before saying something.

"I hope it becomes easy for you to live according to Islam. "He said looking down.

I smiled "Thank you, for your Duas. Hope you also find what you're looking for in life."

He smiled and left.
