Makoto hesitated. The knife was only centimeters from his chest.

"You... you think he heard us?"

"Woah he's fading!"

"..."

"H-hey! D-don't start c-crying on me! E-ew!"

"Sorry.. I just...... Nevermind..."

Makoto stared off into the blankness.

I am going to regret this. If I do this, I will regret it. It isn't them. They aren't talking.

Put it down.

Clank!

The knife fell to the floor. Makoto hadn't realized he'd been staring at the monitor this whole time until it switched off.

Makoto stared back at the floor. The voices had disappeared. He was alone.

Junko Enoshima's voice rang in his ears one final time.

"Aw, such despair! It seems I've lost again! Ah well~ I hope to see you next time Makoto! Stay lucky!"

Makoto's bracelet clunked onto the floor. The monitor sealed itself back into the ceiling.

And just like that,

She was gone.

Gone.

What was that noise? Footsteps? From where?

Makoto looked around. He heard large footsteps coming from the hallway outside.

The door opened.

Munakata walked in.

He pointed his katana at Makoto.

"All remnants of despair must die."

Makoto looked up at him and smiled widely, spirals spinning crazily in his eyes.

"Then kill me."
