letters to the moon
14 may 2020dear moon,
i have always found solace in your presence,
in the way you're always present at night,
in the way you're always shining proudly,
almost like a beacon of light in the pitch darkness.i remember when i was all alone in a playground,
filled to the brim with kids i didn't know,
i would always look up to the sky and spot you up there,
i'd run around and hide in places,
then peek back up to find you looking back to me.i remember waking up at night and feeling lonely,
i'd go out of my room and sit next to a window from where i can spot you,
you'd make the sky that looked like
an endless pit of darkness
pulse with a luminous blue,
it showed me that even the darkest of nights,
can be illuminated by a glowing orb.i remember staring intensely at the way you shone,
wondering if you were just as lonely as i am,
i'd have full fledged conversations with you in my mind,
then i'd wonder later if we could have been communicating,
i'd wonder if you could feel what i carry in my heart.after all,
i'll never be able to find another human that understands me fully,
so i thought i'd shoot my shot with you,
since you've been my friend for a while now,
what if you understood my heart, but i just couldn't hear you?yours truly,
an earthling.~r.
