"Why the hell were you flirting with him! Are you cheating on me now? Is that what's going on," your boyfriend screams at your crying figure. This always happened anytime you hung out with your best friend, Newt. Your boyfriend, Jackson, would get jealous and he would accuse you and threaten you. The only reason you never left him was because you knew that you were nothing without him.

"I've already told you! He's just a friend! I wasn't flirting with him, I just texted him," you sob, furiously swiping at your eyes, hoping the tears would stop.

"Don't give me those bullshit lies! You were practically asking him to sleep with you! Why have I even stayed with you? You no good piece of crap! No one would ever want you," he screams. He spins on his heel, and storms out of your room, slamming it behind him.

"Jackson wait," you cry, running out of the room and racing down the stairs to catch him.

"No! Not this time (Y/n)! You screwed it up to much! We're over," he snaps. Grabbing his coat off of the coatrack, he strides to the front door, flinging it open and walking out onto the front porch.

"Please stop," you sob, running out after him into the pouring rain, soaking your thin shirt and giving you goose bumps. "I promise I'll make it up to you. Please just don't go." Tears mix with the rain drops that fall onto your face, making it hard to tell how much you were actually crying.

"I'm not falling for that again! Go be with him! You obviously don't give a crap about me! Maybe he'll enjoy having you around for a week," Jackson snaps at you, walking towards his car. You reach out to grab his wrist, but he's quicker than you. His hand curls around your forearm so tight it's painful, and jerks your arm, throwing you backwards onto the ground. You wince, catching yourself on your arm and looking up at him. Suddenly another person steps in between you two, their back facing you.

"Back off her," the person snaps, and you immediately recognize it as Newt. Looking around frantically, you see his motorcycle parked on the curb. You had texted him to see if he wanted to come and hang out at your house, but then Jackson showed up. He saw your text to Newt, and that's how he started the fight with you.

Jackson scoffs. "Ya I knew you'd come to save her. Just be with her. I don't give a crap. But you," he snaps, leaning around Newt and pointing a finger at you, "don't come running back to me when he throws you away too."

Within a second, Newt reaches out, grabbing onto the front of Jackson's coat and shoving him back a few feet. "Leave right now!"

Before Newt can do any real damage to your ex-boyfriend, he rushes down the driveway to his car. He practically jumps inside and drives away, turning the corner, and turning out of sight. Newts fists unclench when he turns around to see you on the ground. Kneeling down next to you, he puts his hands on your shoulders, jostling you around slightly as he throws questions at you.

"Are you ok? Did he hurt you? What happened?" He asks question after question, but you're too upset to be able to answer any of them. Eventually he calms down and meets your gaze, cupping your cheeks in his warm hands. "Come on, lets get you inside," he tells you, not seeming to care that it was pouring down rain on him.

You give him a weak nod before climbing to your feet, him wrapping an arm around your waist and guiding you back into your house. Once your inside you shiver, the cool air from the house making your wet clothes even colder. He notices, and wraps his arm around you tighter, trying to warm you up. That's when you remember that he wasn't supposed to know about any of you and Jackson's fights.

"Newt I'm sorry. You weren't supposed to see that," you apologize, wiping tears off your cheeks.

"Shh. Shh. It's ok. I'm glad I was here to stop it. You go get cleaned up, and I'll make something to eat. But we will talk about this later, ok," he says in a soft voice.
