Winston Twins - Johnny Cade

Chapter 10

Davina shook the boys harshley as she tried to get them awake and slowly they opened their eyes and looked around themselves in confusion 

"come on boys, quickly, we gotta go" She tells them harshly and the two boys both stumble up and they jump out of the train into a meadow. The two boys were still obviously half asleep and it wasn't until the stopped for a minute in the tall wet reeds that they finally realised what was happening and the two boys were breathing heavily while davina looked around to make sure none had spotted them. the dawn was coming. it was lightening the sky in the east and the sky was covered in different bright colours that made it absolutely beautiful and a ray of gold touched the hills. the clouds were pink and meadow larks were singing . The two boys had always wanted to go to the country, escape the life of the greasers and socs and now they were finally here, just not for the reason they wanted to be. Davina didn't really care where she was, she only cared who was there with her and while she was over the moon to have johnnycakes and ponyboy there, there was still a few people missing that would have made the situation they were in bareable 

"blast it ponyboy" Johnny complains softly as he rubbed his legs "you must have put my legs alseep. i cant even stand up, i barely made it off of the train"

"Im sorry" Ponyboy says and then turns to face davina who was playing with a loose string on the bottom of her jacket

"i didn't want to wake the two of you up until i really had too, its been a long night and the two of you needed yoursleep, besides it was good to have some quiet time" Davina says with a smirk on her face and the two boys blush and look down 

"now how do we find our way to jay mountain" Ponyboy asks the girl and she shrugs her shoulders 

"cant remember" She replies and they look at her with wide eyes and she just shrugs her shoulders "the last time dal and i came down here, i was wasted, and like every other time before that. go and ask someone, the story wont be in the paper just yet. make like a farm boy taking a walk or something"

"do i look like a farm boy to you?" Ponyboy asks her and he began to think about his hair. it was long and combed back, and the slouching side he used from habit. Pony looked at johnny and couldn't see johnny as a farm boy and then he looked over the girl and it didn't take a genius to tell that the girl wasn't little miss innocent, she was bold and unique, and carried a smirk on her face that was intimidating to those who didn't know her personally but exciting to those who were lucky enough to get close to her. She was rh definition of a bad girl with a beautiful heart, though she was afraid to let anyone love her so she only showed a rare few, who she actually was and she kept up her strong and mean facade, just like her brother Dallas Winston. 

Johnny reminded ponyboy of a lost puppy who had been kicked to often, but for the first time ponyboy saw johnny as a stranger might see him. He looked hard and tough, because of his black t-shirt and blue jeans and jacket, and because his hair was greased back and extremely ling and because he was dating the notorious Dallas girl. Ponyboy stared as johnnys hair went behind his ears and then who looked over at Davinas long brown hair and decided that the three off them need to change their looks, they needed to change their hair, get a hair cut and some decent clothes. Ponyboy looked at the clothes that each of them were wearing, Davina wearing ripped mum jean, a tight black shirt and one of Dallas' leather jackets and ponyboy was wearing faded blue jeans, a large t-shirt and also one of dallys jackets, the second someone  saw them they would easily be able to guess that they were hoods and all three of them new it. 

"ill have to stay here" Johnny said and began to rub his legs "you go down the road and ask the first person you see where jay mountain is" Davina watched in worry as johnny winces at the pain that was in his legs "then come back"

Davina lets out a sigh and steps forward towards ponyboy and quickly runs her fingers through his greasy hair to mess it up and try and get some of the grease out of it and then she wraps her hands around his shoulders and makes him stand up straight and johnny just watches and doesn't say anything as he felt a jealous feeling poking him in the gut 

"stand up straight an stop slouching over for god sakes, you look like a thug and try and get some more grease out of your hair, okay pone" Davina says and steps back say from him and then stands next to johnny 

"you know you kinda look like sodapop with your hair like that, except for the green eyes and everything" johnny says as he observes his best friend 

"They arent green, they are grey" Ponyboy says and his cheeks flush slightly "and i look about as much as soda as you do. he's good looking"

"Shoot" johnny said with a grin "you are, too"

"well i might as well step out of the way and let the two of you run off into the sunset together and get married and live happily ever after together" Davina says with a giant smirk on her face as she watches the boys and she laughs "Dont worry, Dally and i would love to be your little flower girls"
