I was just about to reply to what Ruby said when my phone started vibrating and Diana's name appeared.
"Hello Anne!!"
"Diana! Hii!!"
"What's up?"
"You know, just texting the girls about THE CAMPING TRIP!!!! Isn't it just a splendid idea?"
"Yes I know! I've been wanting to go on some exciting adventures lately. By the way.. what do you think about the boys coming along with us?"
I didn't answer her.
"Anne??"
"Oh yes hello?"
"I asked you, what do you think about-"
"Yes, the boys. I don't know Diana."
I truly didn't know. I mean I was fine with all the boys except...
"Gilbert Blythe. Is that what you don't know? Because you haven't forgiven him yet?"
"Yes but I have reasons, Diana. He humiliated me. In front of the WHOLE class!"
"You're so stubborn, Anne Shirley Cuthbert."
"But you love me for it, Diana Barry."
We laughed at each other over the phone. After a long conversation about boys and camping, it was time for me to help Marilla set the table. I reluctantly ended the phone call. Diana was my bosom friend and talking to her about all my problems relieved my stress.
As I set the plates on the table, I kept replaying Gilbert's words through my mind.
