“Listen, (Y/n), I'm sorry. You know I would never do this if I had a choice, but it has to be this way. You will always be my favorite partner. Take this - yeah, like that. I hope you find a good trainer. Good. . . bye, (y/n)...”

A boy, a redhead female, and a tan male were sitting in a campsite, all of them preparing for bed. The boy, Ash Ketchum from the town of Pallet, yawned and stretched. Tomorrow they would be going to Vermillion City to earn their (Ash's, really, but I'm saying they just to say they) Thunder Badge. Pikachu was excited, obviously. Ash even more so.

Suddenly, Pikachu’s ears perked up as it straightened from the spot it was in, which was on Ash's left shoulder. “Pi?” it's ears twitched as it listened. “What is it, Pikachu?” the boy asked, though he didn't get an answer. Brock's Vulpix looked up, twitching it's ears as well. It called out, “Vulpix-” in a howl-like fashion. Everything grew still for a moment until everyone heard something as a cry back.
                    Raaaiii-!”
“What was that?” Misty questioned, looking around. “I'm not sure, but Pikachu seems very interested.” Brock answered, seeing Pikachu tilt it's head and glance around. It jumped from Ash's shoulders and called out, “Pika-a!”
The same response from the mysterious creature.
Pikachu darted off in the direction of the sound, making it's trainer sweatdrop and chase after it. “Hey, Pikachu, wait for me-e!” he said, his words hitching as he tripped a bit.
“Pika-pika-pika-pika....” it let out breaths as it ran along the ground, tail twitching. It was determined to find the source of the call.
Eventually Ash caught up to his pokémon, panting. “Why’d you run away pika-...” his voice quieted as he saw exactly what Pikachu had been looking for.
There was a dangerously thin Raichu trapped in a cage with empty food and water bowls also in the cage. It had a collar with a note rolled up on it. The Raichu whimpered and tried to move from it's resting position, but found itself unable to move from it's position. “Pika-pika?”
“Raichu-rai...” it squeaked out, flinching away from Pikachu as it came closer.
                    “Have you been trapped?”
                    “Yes, I have...”
Ash crouched down to the cage and unlatched it. With the Raichu unable to move, he grabbed it gently and lifted it from the rusted confides of the cage. “Take it easy, we'll get you better, Raichu...” he cooed softly, taking the note from the loose collar and unwrapping it.
                    To whomever finds this Raichu,
Know that I cared deeply for her, but was unable to care for her. I released her in Vermillion Forest with this note. Her name is (Y/n). She is a powerful pokémon, but she's very skittish. Please take care of her. I raised her from a Pichu with love and care, all I ask of someone is to care for her as I did.
                    Sincerely, a revoked trainer.
Ash's brows furrowed. “Well this sure isn't a way to care for a pokémon,” he mumbled, holding the Raichu close and running to the campsite.
                    “Brock! Misty! (Y/n) needs help!”
“(Y/n)?” both of the trainers questioned before seeing the Raichu in Ash's arms. “Its so thin! The poor thing must have been starving,” Misty took the Raichu from Ash, rushing over to Brock as he hurriedly prepared his original recipe Pokéfood and holding it up to (Y/n)'s mouth.
“She’s too weak to eat. We have to get her to a pokémon center!” Ash said, grabbing the Raichu and slinging his bag on. “You guys clean up the camp, I’ll get her to the center. Come on, Pikachu!”
                    “Pika!”
Ash ran through the forest, Pikachu running alongside him. (Y/n)'s eyes slowly shut, and everything faded to black.
