HER

"Too early to-"

She stopped because someone knocked on her door.

Zen placed her phone and journal on the table and opened the door. Her mom had gotten worried when Leah had called her.

"Oh sorry mom... I just fell asleep as soon as the two interviews ended..."

She smiled and handed her a gladd of tomato juice which made Zen smile since it reminded her of her younger days and how her mom would bring it to her when she was physically or mentally exhausted.

After a few sips, she briefed her mom about it all. Of course she left out some details, especially her inner biases, and smoothened the tale out with a sprinkle of white lies.

After that she chugged the rest of the drink and followed her downstairs. Hearing noises she smothered her hair down and rubbed at her eyes while whisper-whining at her mother for forgetting to tell her.

She greeted the people who seemed to know her though she barely found them a tad familiar before following her mom into the kitchen.

She asked her what she would pick while she washed the glass.

"Let me see... but don't let me bias you... not even indirectly...
But...

I thought you would pick the first one... the top one, you said...

It will surely be more stressful and busy, but you have always wondered how city life would be..."

"Truue.... and I was kinda leaning that way too...

I know I'm still going to be staying with Leah, but I guess I would also love to be in the same place... that might shove some weight and all off...
But... I don't want her to change her mind because of me..."

"Nah... knowing her she is a sweetheart... you should talk it out... take a while and then pick...

Maybe you'd even have the same ideas...

And also... now that you have decided to do the post graduate degree course too... the harder place might ease you in for what is up..."

She nods, thanking her and slipping into her room again to begin the discussion.

They texted late into the night before Leah went to bed and Zen sat, under the moonlight that flooded her room through the open window, with the wind tussling her hair, as she went through the journal again.

Work was no different since no one else really knew besides the management. They did discuss over their breaks, but they still had till the end of the week to get back to the institutions.

They both had the same plans deep down, but neither knew as they put out all points that they could find. Soon their hearts had convinced their minds enough and they couldn't rationalize and they decided that they were going in for the busy one in the city.
