Chapter 4

*Beep beep beep*

I heard my annoying alarm beeping on my nightstand.
Instead of yelling at the alarm and rolling around sleepily in my bed like I usually do, today I jumped out of the bed with a bright smile, turning my alarm off.
It's my big day.
I took on my slippers, grabbed my phone and started walking out of my room.

I shut the door of my room as I walked out, but when I turned around, my smile dropped.
My parents were not in the living room.
That means they're still not at home.

'Maybe they need a few more minutes, they promised they will come' I said to myself while walking into the kitchen.

I grabbed the chocolate donut that I bought a few days ago, sat down on the couch and started eating it.
When I finished, it was 8:17 pm.
I started to get worried, but calmed myself down fast.
I went to my room, put on my pink hoodie and black jeans and put my used clothes in my backpack.
I also packed my setup quickly.
I put all my suitcases in my car.
Then I looked at the time on my phone.

My eyes widened as I saw it appearing on the screen.
8:53 am

I quickly dialed my mom's phone number and put the phone next to my ear.
As I heard my mother's voice I immediately started shouting

"MOM WHERE THE HECK ARE YOU?"

"Why are you so angry sweetie? We are in the hotel. In a few hours we need to go to the airport to be there in time when you'll move tomorrow"

"I'M MOVING TODAY! I CAN'T BELIEVE  YOU FORGOT, YOU IDIOT"

I shouted as loud as I could, then I hung up.
I felt tears forming in my eyes.
I sat down on my bed, breaking inside.
A few minutes passed until I finally wiped my tears off.

I looked at the time
8:58 am

I guess It's time to go

I grabbed my phone and shoved it inside my backpack, what layed next to my bed on the floor.
I grabbed the house, the car keys and the backpack as I walked out of my room.

I walked to the entrance door and I put on my black shoes.
I walked outside and closed the entrance door behind me.

I stuck a note to the house key that I wrote earlier

Don't contact me

And threw the key in the mailbox.
I smiled as I turned around and started walking towards my car.

A new life is waiting for me.

I sat in the driver's seat and put my backpack on the seat next to me.
I shut the car door and turned my car on.
I jumped a little as the engine started buzzing, unsure how this will turn out.
But I just smiled again and started driving

After about an hour of driving in silence, I finally arrived to my destination.
I saw a sign on one of the houses:
14 Muffin Road

I drove until I reached the house and stopped the car in the small parking lot in front of it.
There were two other cars there.
A red and a black one.

I got out of my car with my backpack and closed the car before throwing my car keys in my backpack.
I grabbed my phone and looked at the time

9:59 am

I dialed Darryl's number while standing next to my car.
After a few seconds, I heard a phone ringing behind me.
I quickly turned around as I saw a familiar man standing a few meters away, smiling at me.

Darryl

I didn't say anything, just ran to him and hugged him tight.
He was shocked by the hug, but he hugged me back.
When I pulled away from the hug, we both smiled like idiots.

Darryl had brown hair, he wore a red oversized hoodie, glasses and he had the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen.
It was forest green shade.

"Darryl I can't believe this is really you! I've been waiting to meet you for years!" I said as I started slightly shaking from excitement

"Aww that's adorable, little muffin, I'm also happy to meet y-"

*Cough cough*

We heard someone coughing as we turned around.
There was a girl behind us.
She was around my age and she was that type of girl.

She had long bleached blonde hair, she wore tight neon shorts and a tight vibrant pink crop top.
She looked at us.

"Uhm who are you and what are you doing?" She asked

"I'm Zak and we came here to move in with Cassandra, do you know her?" I asked her

She ignored my question, running to Darryl and hugging him instead.
I felt anger building up in me

"Darryl! Long time no see! I missed you so much" She didn't bother to look at me, instead, she looked at Darryl the whole time and smiled at him warmly"

"Uhh may I ask you who are you?" Darryl asked quietly from the blonde

"I'm Cassandra, don't you remember dummy?"

Darryl's eyes are widened

"I-I remembered you differently. You know the shy girl with the black hair and oversized clothes"

"People always change Darry"

Darry?
What the heck?
Don't she dare saying that

Darryl looked at Cassandra with a confused expression

"Darry? You never called me this" Darryl said

The girl just giggled in response

"But good to see you Cassandra" He said

"Just call me Cassy, like all my best friends" She said with a warm smile to Darryl

"Uhh okay Cassy let me introduce you my best friend, Zak"
Darryl explained to Cassandra.

She gave me a visibly forced smile as we shaked hands.
Darryl started tying his shoe because one of his shoelaces were untied.

When Darryl looked away, Cassandra gave me a hateful death glare, what I've only seen from the corner of my eyes, but I've seen it.

I'm not sure why she doesn't like me but sooner or later we'll figure it out.
