"This is Oliver" my mom says and he walks up to me
"Nice to meet you" he says and i shake his hand awkwardly

"I've heard so much about you" he says with a smile
"It's a shame I can't say the same" I say and he's about to say something before I'm being hugged
"Hi! I'm Mia" She says pulling away from me
"Hi" i say back to her
"That's Ray and Nate" Mia says hinting over to the tall musclar boys sat on the sofa

"Dinner should be ready in five so can you all sit around the table?" My mom says and i nod following her into the kitchen
"Do you need anything? Any help with the food or plating everything up?" I ask her and she puts her hand on my arm
"I'm good, go sit down at the table" she says and i nod making my way into the dining room.
I sit down in between Casey and Zac.
"So what's it like being taken hostage?" Ray asks me
"Oh it's great" I say sarcastically
"I know that was sarcastic but I want to know" he says with a laugh
"I don't think you do" i say trying not to put a downer on the mood
"Come on, okay then have you ever been shot?" He asks me
"Yes" I say
"Where?"
"Chest, punctured my lung. Thigh, almost bless out oh and my arm" I say
"That's so cool!" Ray says getting excited and I laugh
"That's one way to think about getting shot" I say plainly
"Come on, I'm only joking" ray says
"It's not really something to joke about" Mia says and I give her a small smile
"Food is ready" my mom says walking into the dining room with Oliver bringing out two trays of pasta bake
So much more different than rations.

I would die for a McDonald's right now.

Pure shit food with will destroy your body but I don't give a fuck.
I scoop up a small portion onto my plate, making sure to leave some for everyone else.
Zac however has done the opposite.
Chatter bursts out along the table and I sit in silence as I eat my food.
I let my thoughts wonder back to Afghanistan.

"So Eden" Mia says and I look up from my plate
"Me and my friends are going to the mall for the dance in a few weeks, we're all going in a massive group. I thought you'd want to come with us? Meet some new people since you don't really know anyone" she says
I smile, "that would be nice"
"Great! Oh and it's tomorrow after school we're going" she tells me and i nod
"Can't wait" I say and she beams at me
"Eden" Casey says and I look down at her
"Yep?" I ask her
"Where's Luke?" She asks me and i chuckle
"He's based in California, and is going on tour soon" I tell her and she frowns
"He's my favourite" she says and i chuckle
Casey wanted to meet everyone before I went on my second tour and let's just say the section love her and she loves them.
"Is Luke your boyfriend?" Ray asks me and i shake my head with a laugh
"No, we're just friends" i say
"Right" my mom says sarcastically with a grin on her face
"We are, he's gay anyway" I say and the smile drops from her face
"Right... I knew that" she says with a scoff, "I was only joking"
Zac chuckles from beside me and my moms face goes red.
"Think your a bit embarrassed mom" I say and she blushes even more.
"How was I meant to know?" She asks defensively.
"So what was your wedding like?" I ask sweetly and the room tenses.
"I tired to contact you but nothing went through" my mom says and I nod
"It's fine" I say
"Are you sure?" She asks me and i nod
"Definitely" I lie and she nods
Chatter bursts out again and I carry on eating my food.
