Throughout this book, I've mentioned Wattpad cover size a few times. If you want to design on the site, or anywhere for that matter, you need to learn the appropriate sizes for where you're designing. Wattpad covers are meant to be 512X800 or a ratio of that base size. They are not 1080X1080, that, my friends, is the size of an Instagram post and it will not translate to Wattpad.

It will get cut off because it is the incorrect size and it makes you appear less than professional.

This is the original cover, made to Wattpad's specifications.

You can read the title now, it isn't cut off and neither is my name.

Getting the correct ratio is important when designing. It means you don't have to redo things for an unhappy customer and it helps you appear to be a competent, professional designer. I design for a publishing house. That means using the correct templates for book wraps, if I don't the covers will be rejected and I appear incompetent and unprofessional and they won't hire me again. It's important to understand how things work.

And if we're all honest with ourselves, other than a kid's picture book, how many square covers have you seen on a full-length novel? I can think of zero.
