Chapter~ 3

*Knock Knock Knock* Y/n woke up to the sound of someone knocking on her door. "Come in..." Y/n sleepily stated as she sat up and tried to at least pretend to be awake. "Good morning Y/n, did you sleep well?" Chrono asked as he walked in. "Hm? Oh yeah, really well. That might have been the best sleep I've gotten in awhile." Y/n sleepily smiled. Chrono didn't know what it was, maybe it was the way her soft voice was coming out of her mouth. Or maybe it was the way her t-shirt hung slightly off her shoulder. It could've been how she held this sleepy close eyed smile on her face as she spoke to him. Whatever it was, he couldn't help but find himself being attracted to her. Not necessarily in a sexual way, but more in an admiring sort of way. It was more the way she held herself. She was kind, respectful, treated others exceptionally well, not to mention how she treated Eri! He just found her completely, and utterly beautiful. First thing in the morning, hair going every which way, confused beyond relief, and disheveled as she was, he still found her beautiful. He quickly pushed the thoughts out of his head. He couldn't do this. Not in his line of work. I mean, sure she worked here now, but he couldn't get attached to someone like that, someone like her. It wouldn't be fair. Here's this gorgeous young woman with her whole life ahead of her, with ambitions. He'd have to be crazy to think he should just come in and ruin it. Just push your emotions to the side Hari. It's always worked before, it'll work again. You don't get emotions...you don't get to feel. Not for someone like her anyways. He broke himself out of his trance and nodded. "I kinda figured, you were out like a light when we moved the rest of your stuff in this morning. You didn't even twitch." Okay, so maybe he was a stone cold gangster. But that shouldn't stop him from at least having a friend. Plus, she was being playful and nice, so isn't it just common courtesy to return the favor? "Really!?! I had no idea! You should have woken me up! Would've helped you!" He found the pout she gave him absolutely endearing. This was another thing he liked about her. Her giving heart. She'd give a complete stranger the shirt off of her back even if they didn't ask for it. "I already told you, its not a problem. Plus with all the guys we've got lying around, might as well put em to use." Chrono shrugged and made his way to the door. "Anyways, I want you to spend the day with Eri. I told her last night you'd start helping me look out for her today. So go ahead and get dresses." Y/n nodded, standing up from the bed and making her way over to her dresser. "A-anyways, I'm gonna be outside the door, just come outside when you're done." He quickly made his way outside. You were very confused as to why he was so rushed to leave, he was fine just a minute ago. You continued to wonder until you walked over to the wardrobe and looked in the mirror. Realizing you went to bed in a T-shirt and underwear...Your face immediately went crimson red as you internally panicked. YOU IDIOT!! How didn't you realize you weren't wearing pants!!! AND HE SAW!! He probably hates us now! Great...I can't face this cruel world....I can't face HIM not after THAT. You just groaned, sliding your hand down your face, and started getting ready.

~Meanwhile outside of your room...~

". . ." was the only thing going through Chrono's head, Chrono's extremely red face giving away exactly how he was feeling. Oh my gosh....well that didn't really leave anything up to the imagination now did it... Great. Now she probably hates me. Way to make it awkward Hari. He groaned. Sliding his hand down his face. Oh well...I guess it can't get much worse than this. After about 15 minute, Y/n exited the room, after taking a HUGE deep breath and psyching her self up first. "Are you ready to go?" Y/n nodded. "Yep!" Chrono nodded, leading Y/n towards Eri's room. "Hey..uhm sorry about earlier...I should've taken into account that you had just woken up and probably weren't...decent." Chrono awkwardly stated rubbing his neck with his free hand, while his other buried itself in the pocket of his white raincoat. "What? No don't be sorry! It's okay! Really! It was my fault...I should've been paying attention.." Chrono just nodded. "We're here. Don't take it personally if she seems shy. As you can imagine, she doesn't meet many new people." "That's okay, I'm sure she'll be just fine. Chrono then opened the door leading into Eri's room. Eri had been sat down at the little table off to the right, drawing a picture. "Daddy!" Eri said, getting down from her chair and running into Chrono's waiting arms. "Hey there Pumpkin!" He gave her a couple spins and set her down. "Eri, this is Ms. Y/n, you met her yesterday, remember?" Eri simply nodded and shyly looked up to the said female. "Hi there Eri! It's nice to see you again." Y/n gave a soft smile, and knelt down so she was eye level with Eri, trying to make the girl as comfortable as possible. "H-hi Ms. Y/n. Thank you for taking care of me...and helping me yesterday." Y/n gave her another sweet smile, "Of course sweetheart, don't mention it!" Y/n gave a playful wink and stood up. "So! Do you want to draw?" Eri excitedly nodded her head up and down and ran over to her small table, re-picking up her crayons and continuing to draw. Y/n made her way over to the small table, carefully sitting in one of the small chairs. "Are you coming Kurono?" Chrono shook his head. "No, I'm just gonna stand. I'm pretty sure if I sat down in one of those chairs, I wouldn't be able to get back up." Y/n giggled and nodded her head, starting to draw on the piece of paper Eri had given her. Kurono smiled watching Y/n talk to and draw with Eri, the little girl in question being nice, and open with Y/n. Maybe she's different...maybe...just maybe it'll work. "Daddy! Come look!" Chrono walked over to where Eri was sitting. "Wow honey! That looks great! We'll have to hang that one up!" Eri smiled, happy with the picture she had drawn. "What did you draw Eri?" Y/n asked, looking up from her drawing of a flower. "I drew our family..there's me, daddy, and Y/n! Since she's my new mommy!" Chrono looked over at Y/n to see her reaction, worried of what her reaction would be at his daughter calling her mommy. Y/n had this soft bright smile on her face. Y/n looked back at Chrono and nodded her head, signaling him it was okay. The six year old then looked up at Y/n. "I-I mean only if y-you want to..." Y/n nodded and smiled widely at Eri. "Of course it is!" "Okay then! Uhm....can I call you mommy then...?" Eri looked at Y/n, hope lacing her tone. Y/n looked at chrono who nodded in approval. Y/n then looked back at Eri, "Of course." A few minutes went by, silent. But a nice silence. "Hey Mommy? "What is it sweetie?" "When are you going to give daddy and me a little brother or sister?" Immediately both adults went tomato red. Both flustered from the question the little girl asked. Y/n quickly looked over to Chrono. "Eri! You can't just say stuff like that?" Chrono squeaked out, obviously embarrassed at what his little girl had just asked THE GIRL HE WAS INTERESTED IN. "But why not daddy? You always told me that to have a baby brother or sister I would need a mommy too...and now I have a mommy." Eri asked, still seemingly unfazed by her question. "Yes pumpkin, but it's a little bit more complicated then that." Chrono tried his best to diffuse the situation before it got any worse. "Complicated? But how is it so complicated? And why do I need both you and mommy if mommy's the one who has the baby in her belly?" This wasn't the average six years old's 'where do babies come from' gimmick no, this was worse. He had said too much. Chrono wasn't about to tell his little six year old how babies were actually made, that was a talk he didn't want to have for an EVEN LONGER TIME. Thankfully, Y/n spoke up. "What daddy means to say, is that having a baby is a little bit more complicated than just having a baby in my tummy. I promise when your older, we'll explain it to you." Eri just nodded and went back to her drawing, completely dropping the gosh forsaken topic, much to the pleasure of her 'parents'. Y/n and Eri drew for a little while longer before Eri decided to go play with Uncle Tengai and Uncle Rappa. Both adults let out a sigh of relief when Eri left the room. "Thanks for handling that Y/n...that's a talk I don't want to have for a long, long time." Y/n just nodded in acknowledgement. "Same here." "So anyways, what did you draw?" Chrono asked, looking over at Y/n's drawing. Y/n picked it up, showing it to him. "Just some daisies, they're my favorites. Well...that's going to come in handy someday...Y/n and Chrono then picked up the mess left from drawing and made their way into the living room. "Y/n, meet the eight precepts of death."

A/n: I hope you enjoyed this chapter! I hope it wasn't to weird or anything like this, but I thought it'd be funny if Eri asked for something like that, so yeah. Anyways, thanks so much for all of the reads and comments on all of our books!! It really means the world to me so thank you so much! Have a good rest of your day/night! Bye!
