Chapter 6~ Slip Up

Chapter 6~

"Love You" Chrono's eyes immediately snapped open as the words accidentally left his mouth, only to see Y/n was asleep. How could I be so stupid....saying it out loud like that!! What if she heard me!? Chill out Hari, she's asleep...she didn't hear you.. With that, Chrono drifted off to sleep. Meanwhile, Y/n was wide awake, mind going off like a siren. Oh my gosh...did he just say he loved me?! He didn't...right..? There's no way he feels the same...he can't...I'm just..I'm just me. He only 'cares' about me because we're friends and I take care of his daughter....I wish he said it to me.. With those thoughts, she went to sleep. When she woke up, she felt...warm? She blinked her eyes open, and got up to stretch, but immediately stopped when she felt weight keeping her down, and an iron grip around her waist. Her eyes darted down to see a strong beefy arm firmly, but quite comfortably around her waist. An arm that couldn't have been Eri's. In fact, there's only one person's arm it could have been. The one person who just so happened to say 'Love You' the night before. Her face went beet red at the memory. She didn't really know what to do in this situation. On one hand, she could try to sneak away, and wake him up in the process and have this be super awkward. Or, she could wait for him to wake up, and it would be super awkward. No matter what situation she went with, it was going to be really REALLY awkward for the two. Regardless, she went for the second one, she tried drifting off to sleep but she couldn't. Maybe it was the way his strong arm was gripping her waist, the way his soft breath was hitting the back of her neck, his soft snores that were barely audible, she didn't know what it was but he looked so handsome. In this docile state, in this vulnerable state, he was so peaceful, he looked so calm. He stirred in his sleep slightly, before nuzzling back in Y/n, still asleep. Well, until the door opened. "Yo. Ku-" Setsuno looked shocked, seeing the position the two adults were in, Y/n looked at him in a panic. Nemoto, who had been walking past, looked into the room, smirked and said "Sleep tight~" Before walking down the corridor with Setsuno, both snickering. Y/n groaned. Great, how was she going to explain this?! Now everyone was going to know! "Y/n...?" A half asleep Chrono asked as he too started to wake up. He rolled onto his back, removing Y/n from his hold without even realizing what position the two had been in. But, he was also *a little* pre-occupied with how much pain he was in from yesterday, which was quite a lot. "O-Oh! Kurono! Careful!" Y/n worriedly said as she sat up and helped Chrono sit up too. He winced as he moved, which made sense considering the extent of his injuries. "How are you feeling?" Y/n asked as she started to remove the bandages from Chrono's arm and shoulder. "Like I got hit by a bus, then hit again. But considering what happened yesterday, pretty dang good." He grunted in pain as she checked the wounds, making sure nothing was infected, then re-wrapping them, and helping him put back on the sling. "Well, I can't promise it'll be painless, but you should make a full recovery." Chrono grabbed the hand she still had on his shoulder, which made Y/n blush. "Thank you Y/n...I know I already told you that, but, thank you." He softly smiled at her, and she swore she felt her heart burst at the sight. "I-It's nothing...really. I'm just glad you're okay." She squeezed his hand and returned his small, heart felt smile before climbing off of the bed and over to the door. "Try to get some rest, okay?" "I'll try" He said as he gingerly laid down on his bed. Y/n closed his door and walked out of his room. She went to her room and changed into some new clothes to start the day. It was about 9 o'clock, and Overhaul had given them all a day off to recover from the night before. After she got changed she walked into the kitchen, only to be met with sly smiles and snickers. She ignored them and walked over to the coffee machine to get some coffee started. Not even two minutes later, she heard the snickers start up again, only this time met with claps and whistles. Y/n ignored them and continued her task, that is until, "Way to go Kurono!" The still sleepy Chrono waved them off and walked over to the cabinet to grab a coffee mug for coffee. "So, Kurono, you slept pretty well, didn't you?" Nemoto said with a smirk, slyly looking at Y/n, who's face had turned beet red. "Uhh yeah?" Chrono said, clearly confused as to why everyone was laughing at him. "I'm sure Y/n could tell you, right, Y/n? I mean, you were there.." Setsuno said, sauntering over to a confused Chrono and an EXTREMELY embarrassed Y/n. "A-Actually, I should go check on Eri, I'll see you all later." Y/n took her coffee and booked it, giving Tengai and Pops and short greeting (Because they are both too precious for this world, change my mind, you can't) and leaving without even fixing her coffee. "What the heck did you guys have to do that for!?" Chrono said, angrily looking at his two friends. Setsuno looked at him confused, "Dude, did you not recognize the position you two were in this morning?" "Uhm, no? I kinda had other things to think about." Chrono nodded to his sling ridden arm, "And what do you mean position?!" Setsuno and Nemoto shared a 'look' and looked back at their friend in utter disbelief. "Dude, you were literally spooning her when Setsuno and I came to check on you." Chrono spit out his coffee and started choking, Pops immediately came over and helped the poor fellow. "I what!?" Chrono managed to choke out, still recovering from his coughing fit. Setsuno just nodded, looking at Chrono confused. "Uhh, yeah man. You had your arm wrapped pretty tightly around her too, you're face was nuzzled into her hair, you-" Chrono cut Setsuno off by weakly punching his arm, "Yeah, yeah I get it. Its not like it was on purpose..." "But you're not mad about it?" Nemoto asked, "Of course not-" Chrono tried to stop the words from coming, but alas, Nemoto had indeed used his quirk. Nemoto just smirked, "Just tell her how you feel Kurono. It'll be a lot better for both of you, not to mention easier for all of us." All of those in the room just nodded, "Just man up and tell her Hari, it's getting painful just to be in the same room as the two of you." Overhaul said as he too fixed his coffee. "It's not that easy you know...I can't just tell her." "And why is that my boy?" Pops asked, walking over to Chrono. "Because...Because I can't risk losing her. I almost died last night.." Everyone in the room went silent at what happened last night, "I would have left My daughter and Y/n, I can't put that kind of burden on her...its not fair.." Chrono said as he sipped his coffee and closed his eyes. "Shouldn't she get to decide that?" Pops asked as he leaned up against the counter, arms folded across his chest. "She knew what she was getting into when she joined, you know that Hari, let her decide if she's willing to take that risk." The elder said with a smile, patting him on the shoulder and walking back to the couch. Chrono gave him a thankful smile, "Thank you, Pops." "Anytime." The room continued in a blissful quiet until..."So...Did you guys..?" Setsuno asked, giving Chrono a look. "Did 'you guys' what?" He asked, not quite understanding what his friend was getting at. "You know...sleep together?" Chrono almost choked on his coffee again, "WhAt!? No! Why the heck would you think that!?" "Well, you did wake up holding her..." Nemoto started, "AAaaaand you weren't wearing a shirt.." "ThAt DoEsN't MeAn ANYTHING!" Nemoto and Setsuno just backed away in defense, "Besides, Eri was with us, we weren't going to do something with her RIGHT THERE you perverts." Setsuno and Nemoto just nodded. "But..." Chrono started, darting his eyes around the room, looking for anything and everything to get distracted by, hoping for a way out of having to tell his friends. "But..?" Nemoto said, clearly not giving his friend the chance to get out of it. "We might have kinda almost kissed." . . . "WhAt?! WHAT DO YOU MEAN ALMOST!?" Setsuno and Nemoto just about lost it, and Overhaul choked on HIS coffee, Chrono looked away and rubbed his neck with his one free hand. "Last night...she had finished patching me up, we were looking into each other's eyes, we both leaned in, and Eri came in." Nemoto and Setsuno groaned, as much as they loved their niece, they really wanted Chrono and Y/n to (finally) get together! "And how did you end up spooning her? How did you two even end up in the same bed?" Overhaul questioned, clearly involved in the whole fiasco. "Well, last night when Eri came in, she was scared so she wanted to sleep with me, but she wanted Y/n in there too." They all nodded in understanding, "Ohhh, was she in-between you guys?" Chrono nodded, "Uh huh, so I don't know how we ended up...so close." "Eri woke up pretty early though, she was in here at about 8, she seemed really happy about something." Nemoto shrugged. "Now that I think about it, Eri's seemed a little strange lately, not in a bad way, just different...more lively almost. Which is hard to believe, she's pretty much always been a ball of sunshine." Setsuno said. "Yeah I've noticed it too. So does Y/n, but she won't tell us. Keeps saying 'If I tell you, it won't come true'" Chrono chuckled remembering his daughter's antics. Setsuno just shook his head and crossed his arms, "I don't know man, maybe she ships you just as hard as we do." Everyone in the room responded with a nod, or a 'yeah', even Overhaul nodded! As they were talking, someone who forgot to fix their coffee was coming down the hallway. "Honestly, I don't get what you're so afraid of! Just ask her out! You OBVIOUSLY like her! And I'm prrreeettyy sure, she likes you too" Replied a VERY enthusiastic Rappa. Wait, Kurono likes someone...Lucky girl... Y/n was about to turn away, until, "Of course I like her! I just...I just, can't." Chrono looked down, ashamed at his own shyness. "Just try. You'll never know if you don't tell her sometime, besides Eri likes her, and she's taken excellent care of the both of you." Overhaul pointed out, now deeply involved in the affair. "Yeah man, just tell Y/n how you feel!". Wait...Kurono likes..me?! He likes me!! At that moment, Y/n decided to show herself, simply walking into the kitchen and going straight for the fridge to get her creamer out. The room was silent. Well, was anyways. "Hello Y/n," Nemoto started as he made his way over to Y/n, smirking at the glare he received from Chrono. "Hello Nemoto." Y/n gave him a smile. "Say, if you were, and this is just a 'what if' to be, I don't know, asked on a date by a certain Yakuza member," He took the pause to point to Chrono, who was still glaring at his friend, "What would you say?" Y/n looked at Chrono, then back to Nemoto, a sincere smile on her face. "We'll know when he asks me I guess." Y/n took her cup and walked towards the door, "But, to answer your question, I wouldn't say no." She smiled once more and walked out. Leaving a room full of a jaw-dropped Chrono and a room full of shouts. Setsuno gave Chrono a slap on the back, and Nemoto and Overhaul practically pushed him out of the room. "No time to waste, go ask her! You basically got your answer already!" Setsuno eagerly said. Chrono sighed, "Alright, alright...I'll do it." "Atta boy, go get her!" With one last push, he was officially out of the kitchen/living room and on his way to ask the love of his life, on a date. It's about dang time...Pops thought, as he watched the young Hassaikai member walk off. Good luck my boy.
