Everyone wants
Something they can believe in
Something that gives them hope
To distract their mind from the pain and misery
That life inevitably brings
Everyone wants something they can believe in
Like a god - a bearded deity flying in the sky
Everyone wants something they can believe in
Like world peace and joy for every girl or boy
Everyone wants something they can believe in
Like a shiny new product
That's overhyped and never quite delivers
On the promise of what is advertised
Everyone wants something they can believe in
Like love ever after
A true love that makes you feel weightless
And hopeful that you don't die alone
Everyone wants something they can believe in
Even if that something is momentary
And brings only a little satisfaction
What is the something you believe in?
Is it even real?
