I followed her and secretly prayed for her to stop.

"Swipe!"

Again, I swiped and heaved a sigh.

"Swipe! Swipe! Swipe!"

Mariin akong pumikit at humugot ng isang malalim na buntong hininga. I tapped the screen, without my finger moving even a little.

When I turned to my best friend Celosia, I saw her smiling. Magkadikit ang mga kamay at nasa screen ng hawak kong phone ang tingin. She looks so excited pero ang ngiti ay unti unting naglaho nang nagtagal ang kamay ko sa screen.

"Sorrel?!" she called me, almost shouting because of what I did.

Pinanlakihan ko siya ng mata at nagpatay malisya.

"Come on," she added as she harshly put her hands on her side.

"Don't tell me wala kang balak na maghanap ng iba? Seryoso ka bang magtatyaga ka sa lalaking 'yon? Like hello, andaming babes diyan!"

I sighed. Kanina pa sumasakit itong daliri ko kaka-swipe ng mga picture ng iba't ibang lalaki sa isang dating app na ni-recommend sa akin nitong si Celosia.

"Am I that hopeless na pati dating app papatulan ko na?" I asked, confused.

"Besides, Lesther is not just a boy I could easily let go."

"Mind the term boy..." Azia interfered before taking a sip on her wine.

Sandali akong napatigil. Napapaisip na rin ng kaonti. Lesther is not yet a man. I evaluated and considered him as a boy. Wala e, puro landi lang ang alam.

"I don't love him, okay? But Lesther keeps on insisting that I love him! Sinabi pa nga sa pamilya ko na kami na. Imagine how desperate he is," matabang kong sabi.

Kusa nalang tumaas ang mga kamay ko para hilutin ang sentido. That man is giving me a hard time... a hard life.

"Just simply tell him that you're not interested in him, and if he pursues your 'relationship', then say you guys are over."

Sabay kaming lahat na napalingon kay Dakota na umiinom na ngayon ng tubig.

Celosia snorted and rolled her eyes while Azia gave her an amazed look. Dakota is so innocent but her idea makes sense. Kaso nga lang...

"It's not that easy, dear," Celosia said. "Ni hindi nga ma-turn down nitong si Sorrel, i-break pa kaya?"

Azia then nodded in agreement.

"Break pa nga," si Azia na nakahanda nang tunggain ang laman ng hawak niyang wine glass.

I looked up to see the stars above me. They are twinkling in so much beauty, beautiful enough to make me feel at ease, at least. Kung hindi lang sana sinabi ni Lesther na may relasyon kami---kahit wala naman talaga, magiging madali lang ang buhay ko.

I mean, I already have a chaotic life, and without that boyfriend issue, my life would have been a bit easy.

The conversation drifted off as we kept our thoughts unheard and chose to drink our drinks. Wala rin naman kasi sigurong magagawa kung pag-uusapan namin iyon. It will just give us stress and frustration.

Kanina pa ako nakatayo sa labas ng bahay, iniisip kung papasok pa ba ako o ano. What's the best choice?

"The gate is open. Why don't you walk yourself in?" The voice from behind spoke.

I secretly smiled as I turned to face him.
