Chapter Seven: Those Words

Nikolai's POV

"There have been an incident involving your wife" He informed me 

Everything pause the minute he said those words I wouldn't want to hear all my life

"WHAT INCIDENTTTTTT???!!!" I was shock at the statement that he suddenly drops

"Your wife has been hit by a truck and in critical condition" he said

I can't process anymore

Wife.

Hit.

Truck.

Critical.

WHAT IS GOING ON???

"I-i don't u-understand? She just texted me minutes ago and now you're telling me that she's been in an accident????" I was yelling and stuttering at the same time

"Sir, she has been immediately taken to the hospital. You should go in there. And I'm sorry sir" he ended the call

Sorry??? She's fine, she has to be fine. I said ensuring mostly myself. She has to be, I cannot live if she didn't make it. shaking at the thought.

Gaining all my strength back, I immediately drove off to the hospital

I hurriedly run to the entrance "where's my wife? Aliana De Luca" I said to the nurse from the information desk

"She's been taken to the Operating room Mr. De Luca" the nurse said

"You should calm down first sir, the doctors has been doing their best to save her" she added

"Don't tell me to calm down while my wife is in there!" I pointed the OR to the nurse

"If anything happens to my wife, I'll sue you all and make sure that no one in this building will ever get another job in this country" I tell no one in particular and this made them shut up and fear is evident in their faces. 

Yes, they should fear what I can do to them

"o-okay s-sir" the nurse said

I feel like a mess right now, but I didn't care, my wife is on the line here. 

Nothing else matters to me, she's my world, my everything and I cannot lose her right now. 

She's still young, she's only twenty-eight for christ sakes. She's full of life, happy and most importantly she's the kindest person in this whole world 

Why would something like this is happening to her? why? I questioned myself

I stood on the hospital floor feeling defeated, today is supposed to one of our happiest moment but it turns out to be the worst. 

I was supposed to be there to protect her at all times, If I was not that busy I could have drove us to our date. But, instead I am drowning myself into work. For what???

My mind is going crazy every minute passed and then my phone buzzed it was Aliana's mom

"Daddy, what's you and mommy taking so long? When are you going to get me?" my son asked me through the phone

"Xavier baby can you give the phone to grandma?" I said while maintaining calm

I heard murmurs in the background

"Nikolai dear, how's the date?" she beamed, and I can't stand it anymore

"Mom, Aliana has been in an accident. I'm here at the hospital now" I said to her and I heard a gasped at the other end

"W-what d-do you m-mean?" she was crying and stuttering

"A truck collided with her car and she's in the operating room as we speak" I said to her

"Okay dear, we are going there now" she said and hung up 

I called my mom after to inform them about the situation and after a while the hospital door opened revealing both our families and my son

He immediately saw me and run to me

"Dad, where's mom" he said while crying.

I cannot stand it, my son is looking for his mom and I can't tell him that she's laying in that cold operating room bed while doctors are doing whatever to her.

I just hugged him and my dad came after to pat my back.

"it's going to be okay son, Aliana is brave, she can make it" he said to me and I just nodded

Both our moms are crying in the corner while our dad consoled them.

After some time, my son is sleeping in my lap due to exhaustion from crying.

I can't bare it anymore, someone has to say something it has been five hours and still no words from the doctors operating her. 

I am growing aggravated. I softly remove my son's head from my lap and place my coat to his head to serve as a pillow

I got up, and saw a doctor going out of the operation room

"Mrs. De Luca's immediate family?" she announced and all of us got to her

"I'm her husband, how is she? What's taking so long? Is she okay now?" I bombarded her with questions

"Mrs. De Luca hit her head pretty hard and she lost a lot blood. But we manage to save her. And she's been transferred to ICU" she informed us

"Okay, she's gonna wake up soon right?" I asked her

"Well we don't know for sure when she's gonna wake up" she said, and I lost it

"What do you mean you don't know , you're the doctor right? " I snapped at her

"Mr. De Luca, she lost a lot of blood and her brain is still swelling and she's in coma right now. The next 72 hours is crucial for her" she said maintaining a calm façade

"Nikolai, please calm down getting angry right now won't solve anything" my mom said to me

"Calm down? Aliana is in a coma mom, what if she's not gonna wake up?" I said to her 

"Son, listen to your mom" my dad said 

"What will happen to Aliana doctor?" I said defeated 

"Well, you're gonna find out when she wakes up" she said 

"once the swelling decrease she would wake up soon" she added

"Okay doctor, thank you" Allie, Aliana's mom said and the doctor bids goodbye to all of us

"Nikolai you should focus on the situation, being angry and yelling to everyone threatening them won't solve anything" my dad said to me

"I get that Dad, I was just shock. Lia's my wife, I can't live without her" I said

"I know that son, but try to understand that their also doing their best to save her" he added

"Okay dad" I said defeated
