Dont give up

For all the ones that put me down
For all of you who wernt around
I say thank you and understand
When you wernt there God held my hand
When you were gone he sat and listened
When you were gone he gave permision
He let me love and he let me smile
He told me that it'd take a while
But someday you would understand
Why you let go of my hand
He said someday you'll see the truth
That your lies will have no proof
He held me when I cried that night
He told me it would be alright
That i was strong and i could stand
As you let go of my hand
He wiped my tears and sat to listen
I told him of the love that I was missing
He filled it up with someone new
I was grateful for this too
But this new person was someone old
I had just forgotten what I had been told
So while you leave me all alone
Just know my heart is full and home
