'In a way it was my last night of freedom.'• • •
The party was in full swing once Elizabeth descended the stairs into the Gryffindor common room. Her long white dress trailed behind her as the large angel wings lightly brushed against the tight walls.
The common room had been completely transformed. Almost all of the furniture had disappeared creating a large empty space for the copious amount of costumed students that lingered around. The fire place was emitting bright green flames as its mantle was decorated with large melting black candles. Long dark black translucent curtains hung over the windows, keeping the moon and stars from shining too brightly.
"Liz!" A voice called out over the loud record machine. Meg was currently pushing her way through the jam packed crowd, over to Elizabeth standing at the bottom of the stairs. As she came into full view, Meg's costume of choice was Catwoman from the new Batman comics.
Her long purple dress had hip high slits that revealed her long legs as she practically ran over. On her chunky green belt sat a prop black whip, and to complete the look was a purple cat-eared mask that only covered half of her face.
Meg looked damn good and everyone knew it.
"Oh my god! You look amazing!" She gushed at her best friend.
"I know." Meg twirled around showing off the full costume. "You don't look so bad yourself!"
"Thanks Meg." She smiled at her eccentric friend.
"Now c'mon! Let's dance!" She grabbed Elizabeth's hand and pulled her into the sea of party goers.
"Liz!" Turning around she could see Vivian in her signature Dorothy outfit alongside Scott who was currently dressed as a cowboy. Both friends held paper cups of what she assumed to be firewhiskey.
"Hiiiii!" Vivian practically yelled over the noise. She wrapped her arms around Elizabeth, "You look amaaazzziiiinngg!"
The Ravenclaw seeker was drunk. The smell of alcohol wafted up and into Elizabeth's nose as she pried the sloppy drunk off her. Her eyes shifted to Scott, who was currently trying to keep Vivian stable.
"Is she okay?"
"She'll be okay, I cut her off already."
"How many drinks?"
"One." The two friends laughed at their lightweight drunken friend who was currently dancing with a Hufflepuff boy dressed as a knight.
"Ooh there he is!" Meg pointed to the entrance of the common room. There stood Christian Rosier, Alexander Avery, and Orion Black. All three were dressed as low-effort vampires, wearing their school uniforms without the tie and robes. Fake blood trickled down the sides of their mouth's as they enchanted their canine teeth into fangs. "How do I look?"
Elizabeth gave her two thumbs up and faked a smile. She didn't like how this was going already, and felt actually quite bad for the poor Slytherin boy. However, she was annoyed that Black decided to show up as well. Even though he wasn't invited.
"Happy Halloween!" A voice not belonging to Orion called out.
"Laurie? What are you doing here? First through third year's aren't invited." She scolded her Hufflepuff baby brother who was currently dressed in Ravenclaw robes. "What's with the Ravenclaw getup?"
"It's my costume!" Laurie squealed. "Charlie said it was alright for me to come."
"Well, Charlie is wrong." She folded her arms. "Go back to your dorm."
