Prologue

Ashton’s POV

When you’re given someone who brightens the world around you and makes you feel like you’re living in a constant state of euphoria, you don’t do anything to screw that up. You hold onto them for dear life and never let even the slightest disagreement come between the two of you. You follow after them and stay by their side through whatever obstacle may come your way.

You don’t let them go off with your best mate to finish a job that you should have never taken, and then take off when you should have waited for them to come back. You don’t let your insecurities and regrets drive you out of the house to escape and hide from the inevitable.

To put it in the simplest of terms: Don’t fuck up.

And I’m scared to death that I did just that.
