"Our universe grants every soul a twin -- a reflection of themselves -- the kindred spirit -- And no matter where they are or how far away they are from each other -- even if they are in different dimensions, they will always find one another. This is destiny; this is love."
- Julie Dillon
Note: I know Hawks is currently 23, but during these events in the plot, he was 22.

You thanked the cleaners, who just so happened to be cleaning your room at the time, for their services before taking the rest of your things and leaving. You thanked the lady at the front desk before walking out the door with your suitcase. It was already getting dark, the sun already halfway below the horizon.
Cursing under your breath upon the realisation that you'd probably miss your train, you ran as fast as you could. Your suitcase was almost dragging behind you, tripping up your steps, and at some point you stopped just to kick the shit out of it.
By the time you got to the train station, you regretted not conjuring up the idea to rip someone from their car GTA-style sooner. You had missed your train by three minutes. Three. Damn. Minutes. It was basically dark now, the sun barely visible, and you collapsed onto one of the benches in utter exhaustion.
"Should've just beat my suitcase once I got on the train," you mumbled to yourself, grabbing out your phone to check when the next train would come.
Nothing for the next hour.
You huffed, dropping your suitcase, glaring at it. "Thanks for that, bitch."
"You're lucky. You just missed rush hour."
Frowning, you turned around to look at Hawks, who was sitting on the other side of the bench. Watching as he looked out ahead of him to the other side of the platform, you began to notice things you didn't before.
Sitting together in silence, you noticed the way he had his forearms resting on his knees, his back almost hunched. You saw the dark circles under his eyes, the way his eyelids drooped over his eyes. Not even his wings were up right, slightly fallen down.
Guilt hit you like a punch in the face. Why didn't you ever think before you spoke or acted? Hawks, even though he wasn't originally planning to, gave up his time and tried his best to teach you things even when he had absolutely no idea how to train your quirk. You said right to his face that you learnt nothing, when it was a complete lie.
He had made sure you were safe after sending you out to the convenience store, even when it was your "punishment". He even came after you to the train station to check your safety even after being frustrated at you. And he had every right to be annoyed with you.
Everything he said to you was right. You were still just a kid. You were still learning. You couldn't take matters into your own hands and judge danger yet without the proper training, and you were acting like you could.
When you first met Hawks on your first day of your internship, you thought of him as just a lazy hero. But actually thinking about it, he must have worked real fucking hard to gain his position at 22. And now he was having to deal with a grouchy and off-the-rails teen who thought she could conquer the world.
You sighed, closing your eyes. You were so damn ashamed. In a soft, defeated tone, you said, "I'm sorry."
"I know," he replied in the same soft tone. When you looked at him with confusion, his lips twitched up into a weak smirk, "I can see it on your face, (L/N)."
