Chapter 39: Masked

"I'm sorry Izaya...", Hikari kissed his forehead after she put him to sleep with her hypnosis eyes.

This is it, she have to do something...she knows that the man in suits are lingering around the town, she have to distract them from Izaya somehow.

"They're after my power", Hikari mumbled. "I have no choice...".

Hikari went out, scanning every area for any sign of hostility. "There she is!!", one of them spotted her. Hikari moved quickly with her scythe.

They shoot her relentlessly showing that they didn't give her any mercy, despite she's being a girl. She blocked their shot by swinging her scythe and slice their bullets in ease.

"In that case, I shouldn't hold back either", Hikari smiled.

They chased after her like a bunch of dogs chasing a cat. "Get her quick!", one of the man shouted signaling each other.

"I am no ordinary human, don't get yourself kill", Hikari grinned as she glide her way through the hordes of men.

"Wait right there", a hoarse voice interrupted her.

A white haired man with a sly smirk gazed upon her. "You're the one who in charge huh? I'll finish you off in no time", Hikari smiled arrogantly, a little bit mimicking Shizuo styles.

"Are you sure about that?", the man looked down on her.

"What if I am?", she replied confidently.

"What do you think will happen to that high schooler boy you're always hang out with..?", the man lit up his cigarette calmly without fear, instead he's threatening her.

"Huh? What do you mean?", Hikari panicked a bit.

"What was his name again? Izaya? Or something like that, I don't remember", the man grinned in satisfaction.

"...he's following us...", Hikari thought.

"And the blonde haired one...he's also your friend right?", the man winked teasing her.

"Don't you even dare to hurt them", Hikari glared.

"Hmhmhm...by the way I haven't introduce myself haven't I? Sorry for my rudeness, I'm Masaya Kuronomi", the man introduced himself. A boy with almost the same age as her appeared from behind the man, he has yellow eyes and brown hair. "And this is my favorite child, Muto Kuronomi", he added.

Muto grinned, "She's my next target?". Masaya shook his head, "No, she's not". The man pointed toward a familiar building. "After him", the man ordered.

"If you say so father", Muto bowed.

"That is...Izaya home!", Hikari panicked inside her thoughts.

"Don't hurt him!!!", Hikari glared daggers at both of them. "Why is that?", Masaya asked arrogantly. "You'll be sorry for hurting him!", Hikari snarled.

Due to her panicked state, she let herself wide open. One of the men sees this chance and shoot her, but Hikari being Hikari she able to sense it. But she's not fast enough to dodge it and the bullet rummaging it's way on her flesh, fortunately to her quick reaction it doesn't cause any fatal wound. The bullet hit her right leg, it's bleeding badly.
