001: the beginning of a nightmare

Life is interesting. You get ups and downs. Pain, pain reliefs. I often think to myself, at the end of an interesting life it's maybe not such a bad thing to spend your last days with your friends sitting by the blue, blue ocean reliving the story of your life while sitting in the dangerous sun.

"OH SHIT, OH SHIT!" I screamed "MY WORKBOOK! I-I LEFT IT AT SCHOOL!"

I picked up my bike and started racing to school. The cold breeze in my hair and the crisp feeling on my face. Biking through the empty roads to my high school. I got to the school and quickly ran into the school, racing up the stairs into my classroom. I went to my personal locker in the classroom and exhaled deeply. Finally, I got it. Good thing I didn't lose it if I did, I would've been dead. I hobbled up the stairs and into the classroom. I went through my locker and found my workbook. I strolled around the school before I went home. Since I had no purpose at school, luckily now I can go and head home. I went home and got ready for bed. The next thing you know, I was sleeping peacefully in my bed.

Yes, it's your average clumsy and forgetful student, Kang Hyerin. You see my life goes up and down. Crazy and intense or calm and happy. That's just the start, you'll never know what will happen next.

next morning

I woke up and it was the next day and my homeroom teacher walked up to the front of the class and said "We will have a school trip! Pack your bags and we will leave by next Monday.

"Finally we have a school trip."  Junkyu exclaimed, "Literally every other first-year class got school trips."

"I know right! I feel like the school favours the other classes but not us," Yeojin said  

 She wasn't wrong, I think the school kinda has money problems. I mean they have good cafeteria food, nice classrooms and the school building is nice in general. However, I feel like it's not, I just can't explain it. The school's finance isn't all that. Some scandals in the past but it didn't really ruin the reputation of the school. I'm happy to be here and yes, finally my class, Class 4-5 gets to go on a school trip.

"Well, I'm happy. We finally get to miss school for once." I started to explain "We never get to do any of those things."

Well about me, I have 4 people in my family. My mom, Oh Najoo, my dad, Kang Cheolso, my older brother Kang Younghyun and me, Kang Hyerin. We are a happy family, you know. Both my mom and my dad are accountants for the greatest company, "W" and my brother, well he's almost in university. He's in Grade 12, learning all that advanced stuff to get into college. I am a Freshman in grade 10. We both go to the same high school, Hanseong High.

Well actually, my brother's a webtoon artist. Yes, he made the famous webtoon "Lies in the City". It's basically number 1 for almost everything, well there is this one webtoon, W. The classic webtoon by Oh Seongmoo. It ended 4 years ago though. Still a classic. The main character is actually a person in the real world. I am apparently related to his wife.

Right, my parents are his friends, and they work together. Kang Cheol opened up a business in the real world. He's CEO and his wife, Kang Yeonjoo is my mom's cousin. Kinda weird but okay. So basically, Cheol and Hyunjin literally have the same trauma. BOTH the webtoons are rated #1 webtoon for Fantasy, mystery, comedy, drama, action, romance, and even heartwarming. Heartwarming? There's a category for that? Basically every site or app you can read webtoons on.

What about me? Why do I have no talent! I can draw and do art but I didn't develop it by myself. Younghyun taught me how to draw for almost my whole life. He stopped teaching me in Grade 5. I've been okay ever since. I help my brother with his webtoon. I drew some characters actually, but I didn't draw Hyunjin. I drew a few people. I drew his best friends and his sister. I have talent too, I guess. Maybe just a little. All my friends ask for spoilers. I don't really see what my brother does when he's working on his webtoon. I just come in and give him food.

We were in class just doing whatever until my homeroom teacher comes in.

"Here comes Mr. Jeong." Ryujin chuckled. Mr. Jeong, our homeroom teacher came up to the front of the class and well, you guessed it

"CLASS LISTEN UP!" the homeroom teacher hissed "Thank you. As you know we have a school trip in a few months right?"

"Yes Teach?"

"Okay, and we also have a new transfer student from Daegu," he replied, "When he comes, please make him feel welcome. Dismissed."

"Can we just talk about why we have a new student coming to school?" questioned Junkyu

"I don't know, don't ask me," I replied

We were just talking until Yeojin came to my desk. Just talking about the school trip, tests and the new guy coming to our class. My question is, why is there going to be a transfer student 2 months in? It seems kinda out of place you know? He came from Daegu, which is 3 hours away from where I live, Seoul. I mean, of course, he can come to the school but why 2 months into the school year, especially when it's almost midterms. It's just unusual. A person who grew up somewhere for almost 2 decades moves to another city so suddenly. It doesn't make sense at all.

As we were talking, Soojin comes up to the front (that bitch ugh)

"For you girls, I have dibs for the new kid. So you watch out fuckers." Soojin stated, "He's mine okay?"

She smiled and went back to her desk. As she was walking, I murmured "Such bullshit and no one cares if you want him."

OH, NO- I think she heard me, but it is true. She's a brat and such a snobby bitch, especially because her parents are the CEOs of the school's foundation. So if anybody touches her or insults her, they get kicked out or get expelled from school. They have the power to do anything to the school. Anyways that brat, Seo Soojin heard me and went up to my desk.

"So what are you going to do about it?"
