Chapter 18

Earth-38 (present times I ) Kara's apartment.

Kara woke up to the sound of her alarm. It was unlike the girl to start her morning without a spring in her step however, the Kryptonian had to convince herself of such a task this morning. Today was her earth birthday. Vanessa had extended her stay another few days and although Kara had reassured her with positivity she couldn't help but feel her girlfriend slowly slipping away. While she was working with team arrow, the couple had conflicting schedules often resulting in both heroes having only brief I love You's and a rundown of each of their days. Now that Vanessa was going to be on the waverider for a bit there was no way to even contact her for god knows how long. Nevertheless Kara began getting ready for her day and headed to the DEO.

"Hey Kara." Alex greeted her younger sister with a smile. She had know about her little funk and was hoping a good old alien takedown would cheer her up.

"Hi Alex. Got anything?"

"Actually yes. First of all, Happy Earth birthday! And unfortunately second of all there are reports of an active shooter at National City University. First responders are on the scene but they can use your help."

"Aww thanks Alex! And roger that. Oh hey um... I was wondering if you wanted to do a movie night for earth birthday? I know we said celebrate tomorrow but o changed my mind."

"Aweh sorry Kara I have plans with Ruby and Sam tonight. But I can totally cancel."

"No it's okay you guys have fun." She returned with a smile. Although a slight bit of disappointment was evident in her tone she flew off to her mission before Alex had a chance to respond.

Earth-1

"Alright Vanessa and Ava will go talk to Socrates. I will see what I can do about that holy water. Nate, Zari, Amaya, I need you to be ready. Something tells me he won't go down with a fight. Mick, Ray make sure clean up duty goes well." Sara instructed to the team over the coms.

"Roger that Mrs. Captain." Nate replied.

"I hate clean up duty." Mick roared through the coms

"I for one think it will be fun! The two of us tag teaming." Ray chimed in hoping to change the old thief's mind.

Vanessa couldn't help but chuckle. She had always admired Ray's positive attitude.
"So... Vanessa. I hear you are a defective?" Ava inquires trying to pass the time as they looked for their target.

"Aha yeah, I used to work for the CCPD with Quinten. But then I got stuck on earth-38 and now I work for the DEO. We kinda deal with aliens and stuff."

Ava returned with a laugh. "That's funny, but aliens don't exist.... do they?"

"Well you tell me Sharpe, you are the one who lives with your assassin girlfriend on a time-ship and is currently walking the streets of ancient Athens."

Ava smiled. There was something about the younger Lance she liked. Her and Sara shared the same wit. "Haha touché."

"So listen I know you probably don't want to hear this or already know this but, Sara is really important to me. I know you have good intentions but I must remind you, if you hurt her, I will kill you." Vanessa had now taken a serious tone.

"Yes, of course. You Lance's protect your people. That much is very clear." Ava replied

"Well we haven't exactly had it easy with keeping our family together. Plus, we really only have each other now."

Ava always hated that she never got to know Sara before the time travel. She always wished she got to see her in her 'defining' moments."Vanessa I-"

"Look there's our guy. " Vanessa interrupted pointing to a shorter stubby man with messy hair and a very unkept beard.

They had confronted the man and after a lot of running and much holy water the mythical beast was sent back to the hole it came from. Unfortunately the well known philosopher was left very confused.

The waverider

"Well I gotta say the legends are definitely something else." Said Vanessa

"Welp sis we just like to add our own personal flare to things. Speaking of which, I know you gotta go but I think you should think about joining our crew. You really did good out there." Sara proposed to the younger lance.

Vanessa saluted at the captain. "Yes ma'am. I'll see you soon but I think it's about time I see my girl." She the turned to Ava with a smile. "Hey Sharpe, make sure you watch her back. She has the tendency to do stupid shit."

Ava laughed and proceeded to hug the girl. "Of course miss lance. Have a safe breach." She said before kissing Sara on the cheek. Sara then hugged her sister before watching her walk off into the breach.
