triple axel

The sound of Skates gliding against the ice.

Music to my ears.

"EUNBIN QUIT DOZING OFF AND START WARMING UP"
the coach yelled at me.

I give my coach an "ok" sign

I start stretching.

Agh this old man, acts like I haven't done this a thousand times.

As soon as i finish stretching

I get on the ice as fast as I could.

I warm up on the ice as well.

"Start with Toe Jumps, Eunbin. We'll work on edge jumps later."
Coach says.

I want to start working on edge jumps like my axels.. I still can't perfect a triple axel.

"But coach, you know I need to work on my triple axels"

"Eunbin, we'll work on it later. You need to warm up a bit more. You don't want to end up hospitalized again right?"

"No sir."

"That's what I thought, now don't try your triple axel yet. Start off lightly."

"The competition is in 3 weeks. We don't have much time left"

"There would be more time left if you stopped talking. PRACTICE"

He's so grumpy.

But I do what he says.

I see all the girls training go to the other side of the rink.

What's going on?

I look the other way.

Oh... Now I know what's going on.

It's that pretty boy Park Sunghoon.

His nickname is the ICE PRINCE

What an annoying nickname right? It's not like he's the best figure skater in the world.

But I will be.

My coach, coaches 3 girls and 1 boy (Park Sunghoon)..

The girls and I get along well... But I have a STRONG hate towards Sunghoon.

The girls love Sunghoon. He could harshly criticize both of them and make them cry, and they'll still act like he's some sort of king.

It's like he casted a spell on them.

He's so annoying.

He immediately got on the ice to warm up.

He was skating so fast, he didn't even start of slowly.

Of course... Showing off immediately huh?

I just like to mind my own business.

I keep practicing my toe jumps

I get some speed.

Then I do a toe loop. It's the easiest thing in the world.

I jump... But sunghoon was staring at me with his cold eyes, it caught me off guard.

I lost balance.

I fell on my butt.

"Eunbin, that's the easiest thing in figure skating. My grandma could do that..."
Sunghoon says laughing

"Well good for your grandma, but I didn't ask."
I reply.

"Easy there girl, it's just a joke."
He says.

I roll my eyes.

"You messed me up... Next time don't stare at me like that"

"At competition, hundreds of eyes will be staring at you. Yet, you can't even stand my eyes. You'll be disqualified in no time."

This made me so mad...

I want to punch him in the face.

I ignore him and kept skating.

I need to do a harder jump, to prove myself to him.

I need to do the triple axel... NOW

I start to get speed. I circled around sunghoon multiple times.

It looks like my coach has caught on... He knows what I'm about to do.

"Eunbin. DON'T do it."

I ignore him.

I can't let sunghoon talk to me like this.

I jump.

It was perfect.

I felt like I was in slow motion.

The first spin

then the second

I still had some potential left.

I spin a third time.

Will I be able to land it?

My foot hits the ice.

Balance eunbin...

I...

I...

I LANDED IT.

It felt so great...

I looked around and I saw the girls yelling and clapping for me.

Sunghoon had a slight and mischievous grin..

My coach... Looked... Mad?

"Eunbin. Come here, now."
The coach says.

"What is it? DID YOU SEE THAT? I LANDED IT!!"

"I told you to work on toe jumps. You didn't listen... Your triple axel there was pure luck... Your form was off. By the way you jumped, you could've twisted a foot... Again."

"I'm sorry coach."

I was so angry. Why can't he be happy for me...

I look over at sunghoon.

he just smiles... That pisses me off the most.
