I'm going to make a lot of enemies here. If you ship Lightless or whatever the Toothless/Liry ship is, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

I am confused. Toothless' character development through the HTTYD movies was spectacular, except for one thing. The female Light Fury he immediately became enamoured with. I think she's a bit of a gold-digger.
When we see her in the Warlords' Lair, she's the only dragon not fighting (the Scuttleclaws don't count because they're terrified of everything). Every other dragon, EVERY ONE, is flying out of cages and headbutting trappers and breaking ropes and trying to escape, even at the cost of their life! (RIP Rumblehorn, one vote = 1 prayer)
Anyway, she just sits there. Only a dragon that was regularly trapped would sit quietly in a cage. I think she's been used before as bait. What better to use than a sparkly female dragon to tempt a big, colourful male to sell?
I think she knows she'll die once she is no longer useful. Thus, she keeps herself alive by doing her job and tempting the male dragon.
But Toothless is so handsome, and he looks like her, too. So she fails her assignment for Grimmel and warns Toothless about the trap.
