The faint sound of my own moan reached my ears in my slowly growing state of awareness, sighing in contentment as that so familiar fresh scent penetrated my nostrils with each steady and deep breath.
Soothing warmth caressed my entire front, almost making me want to fall back asleep as I simply refused to open my eyes for a few moments longer...
Until that powerful and steady beat drumming against the skin on my forehead finally managed to register itself within my brain, realizing it was actually in sync with that slowly pulsating symbol marking my wrist. What the...
I quickly fluttered my eyelids open, noticing my face was actually buried within a muscular chest whilst my arm and leg was draped over a large body like a freaking starfish.
Holy motherf-
I abruptly looked up, meeting those midnight blue eyes deeply gazing into my own as I laid there, completely frozen for a few seconds.
This was so not the position I had fallen asleep in.
I grunted in aggravation, noticing he almost looked amused as he calmly laid there, watching me fuss about as I fastly detached myself from his unbelievably warm and inviting body.
"I thought I told you to stay on your side of the bed," I angrily mumbled as I climbed off of the bed.
"I did," He simply answered as he kept laying there, keeping a hand under his jaw for support as he innocently gazed at me, only now noticing he was actually telling the truth since his body was situated on the far side of the large bed.
Oh fuck...
I almost howled out loud in exasperation, feeling like throwing my butt on the floor and start kicking around with my feet like an angered child.
Stupid bond!
Throwing him one last glower, I stomped my way to my still unpacked suitcase and randomly fished out some clothes and my toiletries, then stormed outside the door, loudly slamming it behind me.
I then made my way to the bathroom and gently knocked a few times, hearing Leila's voice from the other side of the door.
"Who's there?"
"Relax, it's just me," I flatly said as I swiftly entered and closed the door behind me.
"We're the only ones who stink, remember?" I reminded her with a roll of my eyes, earning myself a giggle from her as she finished undressing herself then hopped into the shower while I walked to the sink.
"Besides, I don't think you'd mind if Ricky walked in on you, would you?" I told her with a smirk as I put my stuff aside and grabbed my toothbrush and toothpaste.
"Eww no! What if...what if I was taking a poop or something?" I heard her say in a rather small and muffled voice from within the shower cubicle, making me bark out a loud laugh at the sound of that.
"Yeah I guess that wouldn't be sexy at all," I commented with a mild shake of my head, letting out another smile before I started to brush my teeth.
Once done, I took a moment to gaze at myself into the mirror, only now noticing the slight change in my appearance.
Those ever-present bags under my eyes were now nowhere to be seen and my skin seemed so luscious, pointing out to the sudden change in my sleeping accomodations.
No matter how much I hated to admit, turns out that just sleeping right next to Azrael had a some sort of healing effect. Not only did I have the best sleep I've ever had in months, but I've also started to feel a little bit stronger and more energized.
I had almost forgotten what it was like, to have him lying right next to me at night, cuddling me and making me feel so safe and warm as I slept.
Why must he torture me like this? Giving me a little taste, just so that he could take it all back again the moment he decides he doesn't want to be anywhere near me again?
I cleared my throat as I could notice those small tears already forming within the corners of my eyes, forcing them back in as I resumed to my previous activities, choosing to just empty my mind while I did the rest of my morning routine. And once outside of the bathroom I quickly made my way towards our room and opened the door halfway, simply throwing my pajamas inside before closing it back like it held a monster captive inside.
I seriously did not want to see his face for the rest of the day.
And with a casual stroll I made my way to the kitchen area, preparing some coffee for Leila and I and some toast.
"Where's Ricky by the way?" I asked as I noticed her entering the kitchen area while pressing the Start button on the coffee machine.
"He left early in the morning with Lucifer. He said that they had some business to attend to," She answered with a shrug while taking a seat by the island, watching me as I busied myself around.
And once I was done preparing everything I finally took a sip of my coffee, almost choking on that single sip as Raph suddenly appeared out of nowhere straight in the middle of the living room area, also earning himself a sharp and short screech from Leila.
"Way to go dude," I said after a few coughs,
"Don't even bother using the front door," I muttered as I looked at Leila's still somewhat freaked-out expression."Yeah, guess what," He said as he threw his large body over the couch, draping his army boots over the armrest.
"What," I said as I took another sip of my coffee.
"I've been doing some surveillance on those little fucktards and guess what; they're living the freaking life, partying like some human frat boys," He said as he pensively stared somewhere off into the distance.
"Mmm, and that is weird because..." I trailed off with a raised brow, waiting for him to further explain.
"They're Sins!" He suddenly exclaimed as he rose himself into a sitting position, looking between the both of us.
"They're not freaking humans! They don't even know how to be humans! They've been freaking living in a box in Hell ever since the beginning of time!"
"Last time they were set free among humans they only managed to cause a whole lot of trouble!" He explained, earning curious stares from the both of us.
"And how did Lucifer put them back in?" Leila questioned him with a tilt of her head.
"He didn't," Raph quickly answered back.
"Pandora did. But now since they're in Lucifer's care, it is in his duty to contain them. And since he can't exactly touch them..." He trailed off, shifting his gaze to me.
"I have to," I lastly finished his sentence with a sigh.
"Exactly," He gave me a sympathetic smile.
"But what about Daya? How are we going to handle her situation?" I then questioned with a raise of my brow.
It was pretty obvious that we couldn't try simply ripping that thing out of her again. Not without causing another break out for those little bastards or god knows what else.
"That I still don't know,"
"The point is that she is not like the rest of them,"
"Like yourself, she wasn't supposed to be born, so it will be easier for us to retrieve her and figure another way to take that thing out of her,"
"What really matters is that we take her back, and help her remember..." He trailed off as his eyes glazed over, seemingly recalling a certain memory.
"You will have her back. I promise," I sincerely said with a smile, noticing that glint of hope shining into his deep brown eyes.
