I was terrified one moment. Then the next I was shocked and excited. I couldn't stop smiling. Anastacia hugged me as we both stood in the huge walk-closet. I took the walky-talky from my pocket and told Joshua and Lucy to come downstairs. I had to move these bodies out of the way before Lucy comes. I don't think they will bother Joshua as much, but Lucy's mom was sprawled across the floor with dried blood on her chest. anastacia and I dragged the bodies to the corner of the room and covered them with a sheet I found. Then I heard footsteps coming.

I walk towards the door and opened it. I knew it was Joshua and Lucy. I could hear their giggles from a mile away. I stopped them before they entered the room and told them to close their eyes. I lead them to the closet door. "Come on! Hurry! It better be something good." Lucy whined. "Ok open your eyes!" I told them excitedly. "Cool! A four-wheeler!! Can we ride it!!???" Joshua asked with a huge smile on his face. "Duh! What else are we going to do with it?" I asked sarcastically. Joshua and Lucy hopped on it. He made some "vroom-vroom!" Noises. I was smiling at his sillyness. He was actually acting like a kid. Its been a long time since the last time that happened. Even anastacia was smiling.

While the squad played with the four-wheeler outside I looked around the huge room and found a lot of other useful things. I found some camping gear and stuffed it in the duffle bag. I also found some canned food and beef jerky. I wasn't a big fan of dried meat, but Joshua was so I stuffed it in the bag. I dumped out the rest of the stuff we didn't need. Compared to all the stuff we had this morning, we were rich. We had weapons, food, a form of transportation and communication. That's really all we needed. I went upstairs and into the living room. It was empty except for a couch and a television that never turned on. I climbed through the window and stepped outside onto the porch. I could see those goof balls playing with the four-wheeler from here. They were doing donuts and swerving in between the trees.

I pressed the button on my walky-talky and told them to come pick me up so we could leave. A few minutes later they pulled up drenched in water. "What did you guys do, fall in a lake?" I asked sarcastically. "Actually, yeah." Anastacia told me. I rolled my eyes and started to scold Joshua. He was the one driving. He seriously needed to be careful. "From now on, only anastacia and I can drive!" I told them. They whined some more but I ignored them. I checked the phone clock and saw that it was already 10:13. I yawned and sat in the front seat of the four-wheeler. I had the duffle bag strung around my shoulder. We might actually sleep thanks to the stuf in that bag.

We drove far beyond the property and into the wooded area. It was way to dark to see correctly so I drove slowly. I hit a couple trees. It wasn't to bad, just a dent or two. I couldn't stay awake while driving. I was so tired. Anastacia and I took shifts sleeping and driving. I would drive for ten minutes while she would sleep then we would switch. When the house was for out of our sight I stopped driving. " anastacia." I woke her up. "I see a clearing up ahead. We should make a camp out there. If we all sleep in this thing we will have a crook in our neck." I told her. She woke up with bags under her eyes. "Ok. I'll get the sleeping bags." She reached into the shuffle bag and pulled out two sleeping bags. That means we would either have to share or two of us sleep in the four wheeler. I decided that Joshua and Lucy should sleep in the four wheeler. It was way more comfortable than sleeping in the sleeping bag. Since we weren't going to be in there, there would be a lot more space for them.

I left Joshua and Lucy in the four wheeler asleep. Me and anastacia walked outside and spread out our sleeping bags. We could see the billions of stars from here. It was really peaceful. It was warm in the sleeping bag, a little to warm. All of my body heat was being reflected back to me. I climbed out of the sleeping bag and just sat against a tree. A minute ago I was exhausted and now I can't sleep. I looked toward anastacia to see if she was asleep. Her head turned toward me. I guess she wasn't. "Can't sleep?" She asked. "Nah. It was to hot in the sleeping bag." I said back. She nodded and began talking. "If you keep your arms and head out and your stomach and legs in the bag it feels just right." She said. I took her advice and tried it. She was right. I was comfortable but still had a cool breeze. I laid down again watching the stars. "Do you think we will get back home?" Anastacia asked without looking at me. I didn't bother to look back. "I don't know.I hope you do. I don't have anyone to go back to." I say. "Oh. Sorry. I have aunts and uncles back home. I should have gone with them when they offered to take me." She said. It got quiet for a couple of minutes. I decided to break the silence. "I want to get to know you. If we are going to be together for a while I need to know more about you." I told her. I was hoping she would say that she wanted to get to know me better too. I didn't have many friends back at the orphanage. I mainly talked to Joshua and this other outcast named Abby. She had a little brother too. Joshua would always hang out with him. I think his name was victor. I suddenly remembered that I was talking to anastacia. She looked at me like i was crazy. "Were you even paying attention?" She said while laughing. "Sorry. I was daydreaming." I said. That was embarrassing. She giggled. "Oh. Well I said that we probably should get to know each other more. After all, we are a team." She said. "We're a squad." I corrected her while laughing. She rolled her eyes and shook her head. "You know what I meant!" She said back. "Ok. You go first." I told her. "Ok. Umm... I have an older brother. We got seperated when kate adopted me from the orphanage. I miss him so much. His name is gary. I'm 15. I love to read and go hunting. I like reading survival books. You know, stuff like that. I love nature and hiking." She said. She mostly said random stuff, but ok. " wow. We have a lot of things in common." I said. "Ok. My turn. Well, my parents died in a car accident. They died three years ago. I like hunting, and hiking, too. I love to read books like the hunger games and books by john green.".I said. "Cool." She said.

Our conversation started by telling each other about ourselves and ended up with us playing a game. Victor had taught me it. Someone would say something they havn't done and if the other person has done it they have to take a drink. We didn't have any drinks to spare so instead we just said if we have done it or not. Anastacia went first. "I have never flunked a grade." She said. " neither have I!" I said. "I have never been in a serious relationship before." I said. "Me either." She said. " Well, I'm not sure. It was complicated" she said again. I laughed and rolled my eyes. This game went on until we were both laughing about some of our answers. We ended up falling asleep at two in the morning.

I woke up with crust in the corners of my eyes. "Guys wake up." I said out loud. I was still tired but we need to get moving. I wasn't sure where we are going, but we need to get there fast. I cleared the crust so I can see. Oh my god. The four Wheeler wasn't in front of me. Why can't things go right?!?!
