Itachi tried yet again to sit up, and groaned at his pounding head.
Shisui was at his side in seconds, "Take it easy."
Itachi tried to shrug away from him but was simply too weak to, Shisui helped Itachi rest his back against the headboard.
"Stop, you'll get sick too", Itachi said softly.
Shisui didn't budge, instead he dragged the chair from Itachi's desk and settled next to the bed.
"Why are you here Shisui?" Itachi asked pointedly.
"You weren't at school so I came to see if you were okay."
Itachi assessed Shisui in the slight darkness. He was soaking wet and his eyes wandered around Itachi's bedroom. Itachi didn't know what his eyes saw since his bedroom light was still off – thankfully, considering his headache.
"Go get a towel out of my bathroom, you're drenched", Itachi said softly.
"I'm fine", Shisui said stubbornly, "Don't worry about me."
"You're in my room, I have the flu and you're wet. Of course I'm going to worry about you", Itachi said pointedly.
Once again he felt a shift in Shisui's demeanour, but since the light was off Itachi couldn't see Shisui's face to determine whether he was right.
"Fine", Shisui said eventually, "It's that door over there, right?"
Itachi could make out the fine outline of Shisui's arm signalling to his adjoined bathroom.
"Yes."
Itachi heard Shisui get off the chair and walk to his bathroom. Shisui switched on the bathroom light and was greeted with the neatest bathroom he'd ever seen.
"There are some in the cabinet behind the door", he heard Itachi say.
Shisui looked behind the door, opened the cabinet and took out a towel. He returned to the chair beside Itachi's bed, "Thanks", he said.
It was quiet then, except for their hushed breathing. Shisui had wondered whether Itachi had fallen asleep. As if hearing his name, Itachi moved slightly and threw his legs off of the side of the bed.
"Whoa, what are doing?" Shisui asked.
Itachi rested the side of his head against the cool headboard – relishing the cold.
"I'm getting water", he said simply. He tried to stand up and was gently nudged back onto the bed.
"Stay. I'll get it", Shisui said firmly.
"It's fine. I'll get it", Itachi said as he tried to stand up again. He was nudged back onto the bed.
"I said stay", Shisui said gently.
Shisui left Itachi's side to get a glass of water. When he was alone, Itachi grabbed the top of his headboard for balance and stood up. In his dark room – the only source of light coming from the hallway – he saw colours spin and bleed into one another. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He took a tentative step – still clinging onto his headboard.
There was a coolness in the palm of his unoccupied hand and a grip around his waist, "Your mother was right, you are stubborn", he felt Shisui's breath on the top of his head.
It took Itachi a few seconds to deduce that Shisui had placed a glass of water in his hand.
Itachi brought the glass to his lips and took a few sips of the water. They stood like that, Itachi being held up by Shisui's arm around his waist while he drank the water. Both completely oblivious to the storm that raged on outside.
