Conundrum (a sonnet)

25 3 2

What can we do to keep our lives at bay,
To keep that happiness which warms our heart?
What can we do to hold each cherished day
And not allow a dark tomorrow's start?

Time flows forever forward till the end,
Despite our prayers and unresolved regrets,
For all the pain we shed and could not mend,
For all the love we sought and could not get.

It is the now in which we truly live,
The now in which our wrongs can be made right,
The now where love is truly ours to give,
And the now where our future is in sight.

So it is now that we must make our stand,
To right those wrongs and keep life's fire fanned.
