Three Weeks Later

Sky Flaherty

<< I'm on my way.
Sorry it took so long.>>

<< It's cool. I'm sitting at a
table outside. Can't wait to
hear all about it! >>

I put my phone down as I sip my iced tea, looking around for Sky. Within ten minutes, he sits down in the other chair. "Hey," I say with a small smile, trying to gauge his mood. "How did the callback go?"

Sky shakes his head. "Nope, you first. You finished before me, so you talk before me." He crosses his arms, leaning back in his chair and smiling.

I huff, smiling wider. "Fine. I think it went pretty well. The only thing I'm concerned about, obviously, is the dancing portion. But otherwise, I think I did well. What about you?"

"I don't really know," he confesses. "I hope it went well. I guess we'll find out sooner or later."

I nod. "What's tour like?" I question. "I've never been on one before."

"It's really fun." He grins. "Newsies was really chaotic, but you never really know. This tour could be really different."

"Wouldn't it be cool if we were cast?" I smile happily. "Especially since Ben and Marlee were both in the original cast."

"And we'd be on tour together," Sky adds. His smile falters for a moment, and he sits up straighter. "What does River think about you possibly being part of a tour?"

I sigh softly. "He's not thrilled, but I think he's finally warming up to the idea of me doing theater. We're still getting used to a long distance relationship, but we'll be able to make it work. If I'm cast, the tour will probably go to Florida, so I'll be able to see him. I'm not too worried about it, and I hope he isn't either."

Sky nods as a waitress comes up to our table to take our drink orders. As we wait for her to bring our drinks back, Sky and I make small talk, chatting about how our days have been. Before long, the waitress brings our drinks.

"So, when do you want to go on our next adventure?" Sky questions, sipping on his water. "And where?"

I shrug, placing a straw in my iced tea. "You know the city better than I do. Why don't we just wander around some? I'm sure we'll find somewhere interesting to go." I smile slightly.

"I don't know if we can top the zoo, though. That was a good idea, by the way," he says, smiling more.

I flip my hair over my shoulder dramatically. "Why, thank you. I have good ideas." I laugh softly.

"Sometimes," Sky adds with a grin.

In response, I ball up the straw paper and flick it at him. My heart stops for a minute when he laughs, the sound causing my smile to grow brighter. The way his eyes crinkle when he smiles makes the world seem like an okay place.

"Jack?" Sky's voice brings me back to earth.

"Hm?"

"Are you okay?" He asks. "You're staring."

My eyes widen as my cheeks begin to grow red. "Oh, sorry," I say, quickly looking away from his eyes and trying to make my blush go away.

He shrugs. "I know I'm pretty and all, but staring is rude," he jokes, making me roll my eyes.

"Shut up and let's plan our next adventure," I mumble, sipping my tea again.
