CHAPTER EIGHT

It's been two days since the meeting with Mr. Chen and Ms. Gonzales. I was in the office translating some paperwork. Suddenly, Mrs. Khan hurriedly called me to follow her. I obediently followed her to Mr. Fritz's office where I could hear quite a ruckus going on.

When we enter, I spot a woman hysterically shouting, in what I believe is Spanish. She was visibly angry and was spewing words that I imagine are words that maybe not quite nice to be repeated.

Mr. Fritz saw me and relief filled his face, "Thank God you're here!"

"This woman barges into my office and started speaking who knows what language."

"Can you talk to her?" he asked.

I froze.

This is it!

"Taylor, look at what you've gotten yourself into," I said to myself.

"This is where I, Taylor Joseph McCormick die because of a stupid lie!" I scold myself.

"Taylor?" Mr. Fritz snapped his fingers in front of me.

"Do you know the language?"

I looked at the woman who was now furiously looking at me spewing out foreign words that I couldn't understand.

"Sorry, sir. I don't" I confessed.

I heard laughter. I turn to Mr. Fritz whose face was red with laughter. The woman joined in his laughter while I stood there confused. "Honey, puedes salir un segundo?" Mr. Fritz spoke.

"Wait! He knew what she was saying?" I asked myself.

"Sir, I don't understand."

"I very well understand. You Mr. McCormick are a liar."

Would it be dramatic if I say that I blacked out?

Well, that's exactly what I did. I fainted.
