Jungwon had always been good at keeping secrets.

It wasn’t that he liked hiding things—it just became easier than explaining what he couldn’t put into words. But lately, he felt like he was living two versions of the same story.

One where he was just Jungwon, the quiet guy who walked Jiwon to the bus stop and helped her study.

And another… where he was the anonymous number she poured her heart out to at night.

He didn’t know which one she liked more.

He didn’t know which one she trusted more.

But he did know one thing: both versions of him were completely, hopelessly, and entirely into her.

-

The guys had taken over their favorite convenience store corner again, pushing two tables together and buying way too many triangle kimbaps and soda cans for a “light hangout.”

“Okay,” Jay said, eyeing Jungwon suspiciously as he tore open a bag of shrimp chips. “You’ve been zoning out for ten minutes.”

“I’m just tired,” Jungwon replied, trying to brush it off.

“Liar,” said Sunghoon, pointing a chip at him. “You have that face.”

“What face?”

“That ‘I-like-someone-but-won’t-tell-us’ face,” Heeseung said, grinning like a proud older brother.

“I do not have that face.”

“Oh, you definitely do,” Jake added, leaning over. “Come on, just spill. We’ll keep it between the seven of us.”

“Yeah, we swear on Heeseung hyung’s ramen stash,” Sunoo said dramatically.

Heeseung frowned. “Hey—leave my ramen out of this.”

Jungwon cracked a smile but shook his head. “It’s complicated.”

“Complicated like you like someone complicated, or complicated like you’re already talking to her under a fake identity and now it’s spiraling and you might actually be in love complicated?” Jay asked.

Everyone stared at Jay.

“…What?” he blinked. “It happens.”

Jungwon dropped his head into his hands.

“Oh no,” Jake gasped. “Wait—is that actually what’s happening?”

“Bro,” Heeseung whispered, shocked. “Is this truth-or-dare girl?”

Jungwon didn’t say anything. But he didn’t deny it, either.

The silence was enough.

“You texted her randomly,” Sunghoon said slowly, “and now she’s crushing on you, but telling all her feelings to the anonymous version of you…”

“That’s insane,” Sunoo whispered in awe. “And kinda… really romantic?”

Jungwon finally looked up, his voice quiet.

“She tells me everything. How she feels when he smiles at her. How confused she is when he gets close. How she’s scared to like him too much because she doesn’t know how he feels.”

He paused.

“She’s talking about me. But she doesn’t know it.”

There was a long silence.

And then, softly—Heeseung smiled.

“She likes you, bro. Both versions. That’s rare.”

“You gonna tell her soon?” Ni-ki asked.

Jungwon leaned back, closing his eyes. “I don’t know. I want to. But I’m scared she’ll feel like I tricked her.”

Jake placed a can of soda in front of him. “Then don’t trick her. Just show her who you are—little by little.”

-

Jiwon:
Heeseung said he looked at me weird today. Like he knew something I didn’t.

Unknown Number:
Maybe you’re starting to notice things too.

Jiwon:
I don’t know what to believe anymore. Every time he’s kind to me, it feels like it means something. But what if I’m just reading into it?

Jungwon’s fingers hovered over the keyboard.

He wanted to tell her.

But not like this. Not yet.

Unknown Number:
Sometimes the best things grow slowly. Like trust. Like love.

There was a pause before her reply came.

Jiwon:
Do you believe in slow love?

He stared at the question.

Then typed:

Unknown Number:
Only when it’s worth it. And you are.
