17. Inebriated

A Heartbroken Guy's POV

I drank...
I drank till I was drunk.
I drank till I was tipsy.

I drank till I could walk straight
No more.
I drank till I staggered.
I drank...
Till I couldn't construct
A proper sentence without stuttering.

I drank because of her.
I drank to heal the wound she caused.
I drank to forget her.
But I guess I couldn't.

Each glass I took,
Had her face on it.
Maybe I saw her face because...
I was inebriated.

I saw her sitting on each seat in the bar.
I saw her as the waiter.
I saw her staring at me from the ceiling.
I saw her reflection on the face of the alcohol.
Maybe I saw her everywhere...
Because I was inebriated.

She is all I could think of.
She is my strength and weakness.
The reason why Whiskey glasses...
Have become my buds.
The reason why bars...
Have become my home.
The reason why alcohol...
Has become my food.
The reason why being inebriated...
Is my personality.

My heart I gave to her
But she mishandled it.
Leaving thorns in each part.
Thorns that prick my heart
Every second.

She has turned me into a walking corpse...
Within a night.
In the blink of an eye...
She ripped my heart to a thousand pieces.
Pieces I can't stitch together.
She broke my heart beyond repair.
She ripped my heart beyond amendment.

She shattered my poor heart...
She left my fragile heart broken...
She toyed with my emotions...

I remember when each air I breathed in...
Had her scent.
I remember when everything I did...
I did with her.

Now, each air I breathe in,
Smells of alcohol.
Everything I do,
I do with alcohol.

I remember when I used to go home each night...
Smiling...
With her in my arms.

Now I go home with my alcohol...
I go home with my bottle of whiskey...
In my hands.

Every night,
I find myself inebriated.

Sincerely, a broken hearted male...
