They didn't talk much during the car ride, other than Markus asking questions about where Simon got all of his supplies and computers, resulting in him giving a very short and curt "I'll tell you later"

Eventually Markus let it go and let them drive in silence.

At one point though they made it to his mansion and they walked inside. Despite the fact that Simon had already seen the inside from security cams he was still in awe. It was massive and beautiful.

Over the course of the next week, Markus helped Simon set up one of the guest rooms into a computer room. Despite Simon's protest, Markus bought him all new state of the art computer systems an monitors.

It was now Tuesday afternoon and Markus was playing the piano while Simon set all of the new computers up on his network. It was a miracle that Simon could get any work done with Markus playing so beautifully.

He kept getting distracted by the harmonious melodies, leading his mind down the rabbit hole as he imagined dancing to these at his wedding one day.

Eventually he got all of his new computers set up and connected to his network. The room was smaller than his previous space, plus it was only one room so it was a major downgrading size wise. But there was actual air conditioning so he wouldn't have to worry about his computers frying like they did occasionally back at the abandoned warehouse.

Finally having some free time, he went onto his computers and did a bit of research, looking for Markus's next job.

He found an interesting lead by an unknown source offering a decent amount for his head. The victim in question was a police officer named Richard Perkins. At first glace and even after some digging he seemed like a normal police officer, but after digging for an hour he found he had secrets affiliations with a foreign government, selling classified information to them.

Perkins had gone to great lengths to hide his mission as well, killing three civilians who had stumbled onto the affair.

Simon decided that the case sounded like a good one and walked out of his new work space and followed the sound of piano to find Markus.

Markus stopped playing when he saw Simon enter. He gave him an expecting look as he took a seat next to him on the piano, showing Markus a copy of the files he printed.

They agreed to meet the buyer the next morning, leaving Simon to contact them and arrange a meeting.

The next morning rolled around quickly and Markus got into his car, who insisted on driving but was shot down because, if things theoretically went south with the deal it would be faster if Simon was driving the car remotely.

Half an hour drive later they pulled in front of an alley. Markus stepped out after getting the word that only a single person was in the alley and there were no cameras.

Once concealed by the shadows, a figure in a dark trench coat walked out from behind a generator. He had a briefcase hanging at his side. When he spoke his voice was distorted by a voice box changer.

"I'm assuming you are this alleged 'Man in the Black Trench Coat?"

Markus scoffed, shaking his head slightly, "That doesn't matter right now. Show me the money and I'll be on my merry way"

Simon snickered slightly as his remark but stayed silent. The figure opened up the brief case, revealing 50,000 in cash. Markus nodded and walked back to the car.

The ride was quiet as they pulled behind Perkin's house. Part of the job would be to reveal his crimes and leave him dead for the police to find. Markus pulled a mask over his face that Simon insisted that he wore, seeing as this was a police officer's house, therefore making it a more risky mission.

Markus stepped out of the car, noticing that the engine was almost silent. He decided to question Simon about it later.

The fence was short enough for him to hop and the lawn was almost empty of everything but grass and weeds. Simon directed him towards a side door that lead to the garage. The lock was easy to pick and he silently made his way into the house.

A single car was parked next to many boxes of junk. Simon turned off the security system and told Markus to enter the house.

It was what Markus expected out of a police officer's house, old and falling apart. The air conditioning unit hummed loudly but it was drowned out by the tv that Perkin's was theoretically watching.

Simon informed him that he was indeed in the next room over watching tv. Markus spied a security camera sitting on small table. He gave a small wave assuming  Simon had hacked into them already. He heard him giggle from his earpiece and bit back a smile.

He walked into the next room. It was dimly lit by the tv, playing some romcom movie, not really what he expected from the man that sat hunched in an armchair.

Markus pulled out his gun and walked into the view of Perkins. The man jumped up and tripped over his chair, crawling away from Markus in fear and shock.

"Look Perkins, its not personal" Markus cocked his gun as the trembling man reached for something in the corner, "It's just business"

Right as Markus pulled the trigger, Perkins hit a button and the police radars buzzed to life with sirens.

"Shit!" Markus swore before tearing upstairs to reveal the evidence. It was easy to find with Simon guiding him but he was out of time.

He spread all of the documents out on the bed and began to run out.

Shouts and sirens rang out in front of the house, telling them they were out of time.

Markus ran to the back of the house, closest to the backyard and awaiting car.

The front door was busted down and the shouts of police officers made their way inside the house.

"We found Perkins, he's dead"

Simon swore and began finding the best way out of the house.

"What do you mean shit?" Markus whispered into his earpiece.

"The person downstairs is Hark Anderson, and if he's here, that means his partner and adopted son Connor is here. You are screwed"

Markus ran down the hall, trying desperately to stay quiet, "Thanks for the encouragement"

"Anytime"

"Shit, Connor's going up the stairs, take that door on your left, there's a window in there, open it and get out. There is a rose trellis against the side of the house, it should be able to support your weight for at least a small amount of time"

Markus rushed into the bathroom and locked door, knowing that it wouldn't do much to slow down anyone but it would give him at least a few seconds.

He pried the window as a floorboard creaked somewhere beyond the door.

"Detroit police! Come out with your hands up!"

Markus ignored his orders and crawled out of the window. He made his way down the trellis, praying it would hold, which it surprisingly did. He sprinted out of the backyard and into the car as a police officer rushed out the back door pulling out his gun.

But he wasn't fast enough and couldn't get a single bullet out before the car was already streaming down the path.
