The sixth day of Navratri is dedicated to Maa Katyayani. She is regarded as one of the most powerful forms of Devi Durga, as she is known as the warrior-goddess.She is named Katyayani because she was brought up by a sage named Katya.
According to Hindu mythology, Goddess Katyayani was created from the combined energies of the gods to end demon Mahishasura. According to another legend, Maa Sita, Rukmini and the Gopis in the Braj region worshipped Maa Katyayani to get a life partner of their choice. Hence, unmarried girls pray to her and seek her blessings.
