Y/n's POV:
"Legolas, I am...so sorry....I am here if ever you need me-"

"Oh will you just shut up?" his harsh tone cut you off.

"....what?" you were shocked, the whole fellowship looked at your best friend in shock, not knowing he could utter such words at you. To be honest you had it coming but when it actually came out of his mouth you couldn't help but feel hurt.

Along the way to the forest, a messenger had stopped by legolas to inform him of his father's passing. Legolas was shocked, that same numbing feeling washed over the mirkwood prince, the same feeling he felt when his naneth had left him and his father. Now it was thranduil's turn.

His gorgeous icy eyes were filled with tears as he dropped to his feet as his legs gave up on him. The fellowship heard his heart clench as their own broke at how much legolas is showing his vulnerability. The prince wasn't one to show emotions easily, this caught both you and him off guard. You felt anger bubble up in you as you cursed thranduil for leaving his son but your sadness and pity for legolas shone more as you quietly nodded to the fellowship and aragorn, mentally saying to stop for the night as he nodded back at you.

They left him to your care as you nodded at them with a smile on your gentle face.

You brushed off what the prince had said and pulled him to your chest as he was shaking. You kissed the top of his head. "Sshhh, you can let go now, legolas....I'm here....we can get through, together, you can tell me what you feel, mellon" you smiled gently, your own tears were bringing in your gorgeous eyes.

Thranduil had been a father figure to you. He took you and your father in, treating you as his own. Now that he and your father was gone, you only had legolas. But you needed to be there for him first. He had always been there for you, now is the time to return the favor.

The heart cracking sounds of legolas' sobbing filled your ears, as you closed your eyes, your own sobs went along his own.

"I-I couldn't....tell him" he choked out as you rubbed his back, his arms lacing is way around your waist as he clung unto you for dear life.

His head surrounded with memories and the laughter of his parents. No son or daughter should feel this. "I couldn't thank him, y/n '' he sobbed. "What he did for me....for naneth" he says again but halted when his sobs racked his body.

"Shhh.....I'm here, darling. I won't go away anytime sooner" you cooed at your prince. He had always been the strong one. But now, the last thing you wanted was for him to act tough. His puffy blue eyes looked into your own as your heart cracked a little more at how he looked.

Long gone was the emotionless prince. This in front of you was Legolas Thranduillion. Your best friend. And he needed you.

"Will....will you leave me too?" he asked you and kissed his forehead lovingly once more. "No, legolas. I'll be here." you smiled as you pulled him to your chest as his tears wetted the fabric yet, you couldn't care less.

"I couldn't tell him....I loved him y/n...
what will happen now?" he sobbed his body shook as you rubbed circles on his back. You hummed him a quick lullaby as his head was buried in your neck, tears wetting your shoulders but you couldn't care less.

"He's at peace, my prince. The reunion of the king and queen." you say, trying to find words to fill his hollow heart.

"I would say do not cry, but not all tears are evil" you whisper into the air. "They would like you to honor them, my prince. They would want you to be free. They would want you to be you. They are with you; wherever you go, as am I" you say as his sobbing quieted down but his tears didn't.

That was enough. You cupped his face in your hands as you smiled through the tears. You wiped his tears off his cheek and kissed each his eyelids as he closed his eyes.

"Mother used to do that..." he thought to himself. "Your mother was a wonderful elleth, legolas" you say, as if hearing his inner voice.

"Are they....do you think they're happy?" he asks you, like an innocent child, full of curiosity and wonder. And you wondered to yourself the same. But you couldn't give him a more heavy burden to bear.

But the answer was evident as you both looked at the setting sun, orange and red filled the sky just right as legolas made himself comfortable against your warmth that did him just right.

"I'm sure they are where they were meant to be, my dear" you smiled as he snuggled closer. You chuckled as he played with your fingers, like how he used to do when you were children.

Your mere presence was a comfort but the lost was too much, even for an elf. His anxiety at how much he was expressing was overwhelming, causing him to find a distraction; in this case, playing with your fingers which you found adorable.

Aragorn came to check on you both to tell that they had decided to camp in for the night. He couldn't help but smile at what he found.

Legolas by your side, his bigger form seemed to be shrinking at your side as he held your tiny fingers in his, playing with it. Aragorn had his smile etched on his face as he walked back to the camp.

"I assume the talk went nicely" gandalf guessed by the smile on their captain's face.

"Is miss y/n alright?"

"Did the prince make her cry?" Merry and pippin queried at aragorn as they approach him. Aragorn chuckled at how much impact you had on the hobbits.

"Is she hungry?"

"Do I need to give her potatoes?" sam and frodo soon appeared as boromir watched in amusement at how wrapped the hobbits were around your finger.

It was easy to love you, that was no question. They loved and cared for you as their own sister. At first; they were wary, as you were a lady joining in the fellowship but, you soon proved yourself as you were their medical help and legolas had assured them you were needed.

Gimli tapped boromir on the shoulder as he smoked his piped and smiled at the faint image of you and legolas in his mind. "They better make me a godfather, I swear" gimli grumbled in his breath as boromir chuckled.

Not only the hobbits, the whole fellowship adores you.
