A hooded creature stood at a crossroad surrounded by tall hedges. One direction led off to what looked like a windswept landscape. Another led to a path. And the last, led down to a river.
'Excuse me,' said Dewin as he cautiously approached. 'Can you help me? Which way leads me forward through the maze?
In a low and ghostly voice, the creature said, 'What goes up and down a hill but never moves?'
