Back to forgetting.  Most of what will be discussed in the coming chapters will need to be forgotten entirely, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.  That is future reading(ignoring,) what we need to forget now is things we may have already read.  In some extremely abstract and technical contexts book burning comes with certain negative connotations.  Let's learn to ignore context.  That's almost as good as forgetting(burning), but not quite.

Top of the list of things to mind swipe: 'Harrison Bergeron'.  No such tale ever existed.  Also, 'The Sirens of Titan'.  Never twas writ, and if it were would be beastly.  Being extremely superstitious(a prerequisite for future (anti)citizenship), I hesitate to even mention this next one.  Let's just say that if you ever see a publication bearing any relation to the following symbols: 1, 9, 8, 4, that is not a TV Guide, throw it onto the flames post haste.  And make sure no one sees you with it, if they do, you may as well just throw yourself on the fire with it.  And if you see anyone else with a copy, denounce them to the proper authorities(this assumes there is someone with a monopoly on violence to report to/hopefully there will not be/in which case you can handle it yourself) lest you suffer their fate along with them.

On a happier note, there will still be many, many interesting things we can read to our hearts content.  These include but are not limited to: diacritics, milk cartons, no trespassing signs, ideas smeared on padded walls, The Guardian, semicolons, and obituaries.  Lots of obituaries.  Actually, scratch that last one, it can be dangerous to be remembering people like that.  Where were we?
