...

The morning a couple weeks after was a weird quiet, something had shifted and the sun didn't brighten the room like it always did because the curtains were closed.

The two were sleeping, but not close to each other like they always did, the kitten curled up in the wide space between them.

Even though the two had already been awake for quite some time, they only stared at the wall they faced with sad eyes.

The giggles and laughs and smiles that lit the room were gone, replaced with wishes and regrets.

The kitten woke, mewling for attention that neither attempted to fulfill, both lost deeply in their thoughts.

"Take care of the cat, baby," Louis said softly when the cat wouldn't quiet down, and he felt the bed move behind him as Harry picked up the cat and pet it lovingly.

Harry stared at Louis' back with hooded eyes before looking away, staring at the kitten that fell asleep in his arms, just like Louis used to.

He kissed the cat, wishing it was Louis, and held it close, wishing it was Louis.

He closed his eyes and let out a shaky breath before laying back down and resting his head against the pillow.

It wasn't like it used to be.
