Ke Ruan felt sympathetic towards Si Yuhan. After all, Si Yuhan was just a seven-or-eight-year-old boy. If it were not for the way he was treated, there was no way that he would become a devil like that. Ke Ruan carefully dressed him. Si Yuhan looked like a little boy wearing his father's clothes.

Ke Ruan couldn't examine him because it would look so weird if an arrogant prince like him suddenly could practice medicine.

Si Yuhan just stared at him. If it really was Ke Ruan himself who had came back from rebirth, he should at least be afraid or filled with hatred considering that I was the one who had killed his whole family and crushed him into ashes. Why? Why didn't he act like that? Instead, he was worried and cared about me. Why?

Si Yuhan laughed a little. He finally decided that he didn't care. Ke Ruan would die eventually no matter what. And he would make sure to see it happen.

Ke Ruan felt chilly all of a sudden. He looked at Si Yuhan and found his expression were just like what was written in the book: indifferent, unapproachable but still childlike.

He frowned and had a somewhat bad hunch.

They heard footsteps outside. An old man in official uniform carrying a box came in and bowed low to Ke Ruan. "Your Highness," he said.

Ke Ruan nodded at him. "Go check on the child."

Ke Ruan paused after saying this. Wouldn't it be weird for a teenager prince to say something so mature? He couldn't help glancing at everyone present in a casual way, and found that no one noticed, then felt relieved.

Ke Ruan walked over. "How is he?" He asked.

"Your Highness. He haven't eaten anything for days. That's why he's being so weak. The scars on his skin can be easily treated. He will recover in a few days after taking some medicine. You can rest assured."

"Then go prescribe the medicine now."

The doctor nodded and bowed to Ke Ruan again. "Yes. Your Highness."

Ke Ruan then asked the maid to get some porridge from the royal dinning room.

"Yes! Your Highness." The maid left. Ke Ruan smiled at Si Yuhan. "He" had done so many unforgivable things before. It was not possible for Si Yuhan to trust him all at once. He totally understood. Then he went to the back of the wooden folding screen and changed his filthy clothes.

"Brother. Brother..."

Just as he changed his clothes, he heard a soft sweet voice. Ke Ruan paused and looked through the door. A girl, at the age of about four or five, was running towards him.

Ke Ruan's facial expression softened suddenly. He squatted down and welcomed her with a big hug. Her face became red like an apple for running too fast. Her big round eyes were just like sweet grapes in autumn.

Being the only princess in the Red Flame Country and the most beloved sister of Ke Ruan, she was the apple in Ke Ruan's eyes. He would do anything she asked, even though he treated other people like shit.

He picked her up gently. "What are you doing here?"

Ke Nuo wrapped her arms around his neck. "I miss you, so so much. "

"Your Highness." The nanny behind her saluted to the prince.

Ke Ruan nodded. He smiled at Ke Nuo and tapped her on the nose. The maid came in with the porridge and put it beside Si Yuhan. Ke Nuo saw Si Yuhan and couldn't look away anymore. She leaned over to him.

Ke Ruan took the porridge up and sat next to Si Yuhan beside the bed. "You haven't eaten anything for days. Take the porridge first, then you can have some other stuff."

Ke Ruan looked at Ke Nuo who had already been glued to Si Yuhan, then handed the bowl to Si Yuhan so he could carried her away from him. Ke Nuo put on a long face right away. She was so unhappy that she punched Ke Ruan in his arms.

The moment Ke Ruan was held away, the coldness and disgust in Si Yuhan's eyes slowly faded.

Ke Ruan settled her on a stool and squeezed her hands reassuringly.

Ke Nuo didn't have a happy ending, either.

Si Yuhan was the male lead after all. So not surprisingly, in the book, Ke Nuo couldn't help but fall in love with Si Yuhan. She loved him so much that she betrayed her own country for him. She went to see Si Yuhan during the final war, assaulted by his soldiers, and ended up dying on the battlefield. Si Yuhan might or might not know this, but his hatred was to strong that he decided to pretend that he knew nothing. Ke Nuo didn't say anything after being assulted. She didn't even punish those soldiers of his. Her heart had already died.

After eating up the porridge, Si Yuhan flicked a glance at Si Yuhan who was in a trance. A faint smile rose on his face. A flash of crazy interest shined in his eyes.

Being stared at by the male lead of the story, Ke Ruan found himself feeling a little bit guilty. What he did today was absolutely impulsive, but he didn't have time to think it through. He must make a bet for the sake of his own life.

Ke Ruan handed her sister to the nanny. "It's getting late. Take her back. "

The nanny nodded. Ke Ruan didn't let Ke Nuo stay even she begged crying and shouting.

Ke Ruan sat on the stool, with his hands on the desk slightly closed with no attention. He looked towards Si Yuhan and found that Si Yuhan was looking at him, too.

It was quiet for a moment.

Ke Ruan moved his lips, wanting to say something, but was interrupted by the maid. "Your Highness, the clothes are ready."

Ke Ruan almost felt relieved. "Bring it in."

Si Yuhan's rubbed his fingers against the clothes, which apparently was nothing cheap. Ke Ruan stood up, wondering if he should apologize to him. What he did is outrageous after all. "I, uh..."

Before he could say anything, Si Yuhan had already changed his clothes, got out of bed and saluted towards him. "Your Highness. I should leave now, if you don't have any other commands."

He learned from his words that Si Yuhan was practically saying that if you son of a bitch suddenly had a conscience and didn't want to torture me anymore today, just let me go.

Ke Ruan swallowed back the words. It was better not to say anything at this moment. "Go." He nodded awkwardly.

Si Yuhan left and went back to his little dark room. It was always this dark with nothing in it, just like the dungeon. It was nothing compared to that palace that belonged to Ke Ruan.

The silky touch of the clothes turned Si Yuhan's eyes into something flickering. He rubbed his chin thoughtfully.

Ke Ruan!

Si Yuhan repeated the name several times. His voice was doubtful but still utterly cruel.

Someone was knocking on the door. Si Yuhan put on a smile and opened the door. It was the imperial doctor who had just treated him.

The doctor handed him two packs of medicine impatiently. The taunted expression and sarcastic voice were totally different from before. "The prince asked me to give you this."

Si Yuhan's made a fist in his sleeves and didn't take the medicine.

A killing desire rose in his heart.

It's been a long time since he was treated like this.

The doctor felt a bit scared about Si Yuhan's cold eyes without knowing exactly why. Since Si Yuhan didn't take the medicine, he tossed it towards him. "No wonder you're from a small inferior country where people know nothing about courtesy."
